My Question or Issue

The native app available in the 2020 GMC Infotainment system stopped working last week. I can see my recently played content and my saved library, but when I select a playlist to play, it doesn't load. If I try to start it on my phone, the first song will show on the screen but won't play, and then the screen in the vehicle will scroll through the playlist really fast.

  • I've deleted the app from the infotainment system and reinstalled it
  • logged out and logged back in
  • Reset the infotainment system to manufacturer settings
  • cleared the cache on my account through the Spotify account on my browser
  • Deleted and re-downloaded the app from my phone
  • Logged out my user profile and logged someone else in, and had the same problem.

What works:

  • Spotify plays fine on my browser and on my phone app.
  • I can stream Spotify to my in-car system through BT
  • Spotify works through Android Auto

Hey folks,

Thank you for alerting us about this.
I took a look around the forum but it seems that this issue is currently only present on the GMC infotainment systems.
With this in mind, I'd take this to the vehicle manufacturer first to see if there aren't any pending firmware updates that require installation.

Let us know how you get on. We'll be on the lookout for your replies 🙂

Same thing is happening in my 2020 GMC Sierra. I've always listened to podcast but now when I select a podcast it turns green but doesn't play. I have also deleted and reinstalled the app and still no go.

My GMC will also not play music. When trying to browse music you can press on a selection and it also just turns green and does not play anything. I think this has something to do with the latest update. I used to be able to stream from my Pixel to the car also but now when my screen shuts off or I back out of the app the playback stops. Also on the new update I cannot find where to select what device the playback plays through like you could on the last update.

This is happening to my in my 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EUV, this is not a vehicle manufacture issue, this is a Spotify issue. It was working fine mid week last week until it just quit and has not worked since. No changes in the vehicle were made.

PolarBear_605

2021 Chevrolet Colorado, same issue.

Zoso028

Same issue in my 2019 GMC Terrain.

This is not an issue with the vehicle, all other infotainment and media apps are working, spotify stopped working on its own in the middle of last week. A backend change is most likely the cause on Spotify's side.

Same issue in my 2020 GMC sierra 1500. Playlist shows green but not playing. I took it to the dealership and they didn't find any issues with the infotainment system all other apps work except spotify.
