Random pauses during playback despite reinstalling

Hi, I've had the same problem for the past few months. Playback on my phone will stop in the middle of the track for no apparent reason. This happens every two songs or so. I have to enter the app and click play, and the track will restart from the beginning.

I've tried deleting and reinstalling the entire app but the same problem persists. Also, I noticed that this only began after putting several play lists as offline at one go (more than 100 songs). I don't have many offline songs now. I still have more than 20gb of storage on my 64gb phone.

I've a premium spotify account. I'm using a xiaomi mi note phone powered by android 4.4.4. My MIUI is 7.0.6.0 (should be latest update).

Any idea what might be the issue? I've also tried different networks (data, wifi) but to no avail. I'm the only one using my account and only one device at a time is used. The problem only occurs on my phone, playback on my laptop is fine.
