Sd card storage for offline music

Sd card storage for offline music

Help!!! I have tried everything in the community I could find but my offline music still goes to my device storage. I have a 32 gig Sd card and only 8 gig on my device (htcm8) but my music still goes to my internal storage. I even fully reset my phone but still no go. Why won't spotify let you choose yore offline storage this is really poor.

First, I would go into settings and use the option to delete cache and saved data. The app will reset. After it does, log back in, go back to settings, and make sure download quality is set to extreme. Try downloading a playlist and see if that helps at all. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to tell Spotify to download to the SD card, but this can sometimes force it to do so.

Thanks think it's working now but very poor you can't just set this.

No problem, glad it seems to be working. Yes, an actual setting would be useful.

Hello, I've got the same problem. I've deleted the cache and app data several tmes, it still saves to the internal memory (12gb), ignoring the SD card (64gb). I'm downloading in 'extreme' quality. I've deleted and reinstalled the app three times and still it refuses to use my SD card. I've got the most recent app version and operating system for the Xperia Z1. It's pretty infuriating... why haven't Spotify sorted this - judging by the forum threads people have been complaining about this for at least two years!

Am I missing anything? Any ideas?!

Thanks.

OMG just got new HTC one M8, only has 16Gb internal. Bought a 64Gb SD card specifically for spotify to store its music and now I find out it cant! Surely this cannot be! Any one have any ideas????

Oh and BTW I have tried all the clean re-install options suggested on the posts but nothing seems to make Spotify choose the SD card even though it has 59Gb free and the phone has 6Gb free

Hi,

spotify saved the offline files on my sd card perfectly sony xperia sp). I think I´ve cleaned the cache with another app and now spotify is not showing my downlaoded data. the data are still on available n the card. does anyone knows how to solve this? dont like to download all my music again....

Vogi

Make sure the SD Card is present when you install the app. Also I make sure to have DL quality set to 'Extreme' quality. See if doing the same helps?

FYI - I'm also using the M8 with 64GB SanDisk SD

Hi, when you mark something as 'available offline' what Spotify does is download it as a cache file. So if you use something like 'Clean Master' to remove the Spotify Cache, you will in fact delete your downloaded music.

You will have to re-download it again I'm afraid.

Might be worth making a note to not clean cache on Spotify next time. Some apps also allow you to whitelist an app/folder from cleaning. Might be worth setting 'Android/data/com.spotify.mobile.android.ui' to be safe from this process.

I realize this thread is dead, but just for any future troubleshooters with the same issue, i tried numerous cashe clearings and reinstalls, but in the end it turned out that my music actually was being downloaded on my sd card, only the settings/apps told me it was going on my internal memory.

So try a full reinstall, put download quality to extreme, and then download some songs and check where the difference in storage is going. it should be on your sd card, regardless of what your settings/apps tells you.

Followed every posted procedure multiple times, including yours Fyzm. Still no good.

Note- the phone's settings thinks the data is on the SD card, but if you use a file manager to go look, it's clearly on the internal storage.

Please read the guide linked below for details on the most common issues and how to fix them. Usually a clean install is the first step to take and resolves most of the usual issues; the guide details the steps to take to ensure a full 'clean installation' is achieved - This includes checking redundant folders and a REBOOT!
