My Question or Issue

Not sure when exactly this started happening, but I noticed it last night and didn't have this issue a few days ago. If I try to play an album, no matter what track I click on, it enables shuffle automatically. Does it with every album I tried. If I play the music through the artist tab it plays normally. Playlists and liked songs also play normally. This is only occurring with albums. No idea what happened as I haven't even updated the app in around two years because I hate the new layout and constant unnecessary changes. I've tried literally every trouble shooting suggestion I've found aside from a clean reinstall, which I would REALLY like to avoid, and honestly probably won't do if it's the only option because I am not dealing with that new now playing page cause it's seriously awful.

EDIT: Just confirmed it's not my app because my mom's is doing the exact same thing. Something definitely went weird on spotify's end.

Hey @datfenristho,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We really appreciate the info you kindly shared. In this case, keep in mind that issues with the app while it is not updated are expected; this way we can advise adequate alternatives for the inconveniences. We appreciate all your comments, but to ensure the proper functionality of the app, we suggest to update it and check if you notice any difference.

That being said, we'd recommend checking if you can replicate this behavior on a different mobile device on which the latest version of the app is installed. We understand you noticed the described behavior also in your mom's account, So, could you check if this is happening on a different device? You can use a relative's or a friend's mobile device to open your account and check.

On another note, we suggest you log out and log in twice in a row onto your Spotify account. This could sound a little bit odd, but this way the system will force a resync of your account in general.

Lastly, would you mind sending us the make/model and OS of your device, along with the Spotify version you are running?

Keep us in the loop!

Unfortunately I don't have any other device I could test it on aside from a ps4 which I don't think would really help with an android issue haha. I was able to check on the web player with my phone though and it didn't have the problem, so it's not tied to the account. I also did the logout thing multiple times already, as well as deleting the app data and cache, and pretty much every combination of the three things in different orders. Edit to add I also restarted and powered off my phone multiple times while trying all these different things, in case I get the ol turn it off and on again spiel haha. Unfortunately nothing changed.

My phone is an LG Harmony 2 model number LM-X401CS running android 8.1.0, spotify version 8.6.8.1094 .

I would've totally done a clean reinstall already if I knew I wouldn't get stuck with one of the other bugs from newer versions I've seen posted about a lot. Like songs never playing all the way through and restarting, or constantly pausing out of nowhere. Those are much worse than having to just remember to turn shuffle off when I play an album, so unless I get more problems I'll probably just deal with it till a feature gets added that makes it worth updating or something.
