Spotify blocks notification bar - no way to turn off

In one of the recent updates a 'now playing' appeared in the notification bar. How do I get rid of it permanently?

It's there even if I turn off all notifications for Spotify. I can hide it if I long press it, but it comes back with the next song. 

It's also a completely useless feature, just FYI.

I think it is also an issue with the Android dot notifications with the latest update.   Here is an example - when I have spotify playing, the widget takes up majority of the notifications space so I only see the latest notification.... vs. not having spotify playing I see the latest 3 notification.

@Joan It is uploaded as a short to youtube. I have asked my friends, they are able to play it. Can you please chceck again?

@johnstavola: This is exactly what it is. Yours is not animated with colourful icon and dummy equalizer like mine. Either way, it's useless and I'd really like to have option to switch it off from the notification bar.

Bear in mind that these settings might vary between devices and are not always up to Spotify, but the OS itself. Could you please try following these steps to remove the Spotify widget from the notification bar? The exact steps might be different depending on your device.

Using an Galaxy s25 ultra. I spend most of my time driving and listening to podcasts. When Spotify is playing the Spotify icon takes up the space of 3 of 4 notification icons. Which means the only notification icon I can see while driving is the last to arrive. And these three spaces are being used to display a scrolling banner that reads the title of what song you are playing. This information isn't useful as it can barely be ready while I'm driving. And I am actively listening to the content so I know what I am playing currently. I would much rather have 1 Spotify icon or NO icon at all and the other 2-3 icon spaces in the status bar available for important notifications. The option to minimize or turn off this 3 icon Spotify default would be great.

How do I disable having the little playback notification on my phone when I am listening to Spotify on my PC? I have no need to have any sort of control or information to be displayed on my phone when I am not listening to music on my phone.

I have tried swiping it away and it comes back almost immediately. If I open the Spotify app, close it, it goes away from a brief second and then comes back.

This stupid bar thing is a problem with Android. It's called the "now bar". If you turn it off for "media player", it gets rid of this. But then you also cannot see Spotify in your notifications at all.
