Hi, Spotify continues playing a music on smartphone after stop a car and disconnect with Android Auto, It didnt do that never before...

Same thing. Samsung 23 ultra. No issues previously with the music pausing when shutting off the car but now it just starts playing through my phone. This has  only been an issue since an android update recently. Have taken all steps suggested but no fix.

Me too. It only started very recently. Really annoying though as it runs down the battery and at first, I didn't know where the noise was coming from!

Looked in the Play Store and Spotify updated itself 5 days ago, when issue started.

Only seems to do it when using Bluetooth or wireless, not when plugged in.

Haven't tried it with a speaker yet.

Haven't tried a reinstall either.

Started happening after an update a couple days ago.

Tried a fresh reset/reinstall with no luck. Samsung galaxy s22, one UI version 8.0.

This is the only app that its happening with via Bluetooth, any time i connect to any vehicle or headphones and shut them down it continues to play music, but before the update it would shut right off. Spotify version 9.0.94.274

Same thing. Recently done a Spotify and Android update.

Happens when I play music in the car via Bluetooth. Not via Android Auto. When I turn off the engine spotify continues to play through my phone. Only started happening since the updates.

Spotify version is 9.0.94.274

My phone is Samsung S23

For me it started happening couple of days ago. I am connected to the car via Bluetooth , not using android auto. After I turn of the car , the music keeps playing on my phone speakers.

Same here, if playing music on Bluetooth, when the Bluetooth device disconnects, audio continues playing from the phone. Started about a week ago, with a previous update of Spotify that was released end of October if I recall correctly. Now I'm on Beta to see if I'll get the fix earlier but as of November 12 still no luck.

I figured out a work around, but was incredibly annoying... involves making a rule set / routine in the phone settings.

When I have more time, I can try typing out steps, if wanted.

Uninstall/Reinstall fixed this for me on a Samsung s24+. Behavior started about a week ago.

just started happening to me. it MIGHT have started after a software update on my phone, but I'm not certain. it's a Galaxy S24, Android 16, One UI 8.0. I haven't tried a clean reinstall yet. I'm using Bluetooth. it happens only in my car, though I don't have Android Auto. does not happen, for example, when I connect to a Barnacle X. Spotify version is 9.0.94.274

I just started having the same problem a few days ago, but only when Spotify is closed. When it's open and on screen, it pauses when I shut off my car

For the time being, for me this is a working workaround as suggested by another user below

Settings - Modes and routines - Routines

You can omit some of the entries, only required ones are Play music - Spotify and When routine ends - Play music - Stop music

Hi all, this seems to be fully fixed for me in Spotify version 9.0.96.826, which I got in Beta the last couple of days.

When it goes live hopefully it will be fixed for everyone and stay that way.

Edit: 

The issue came back few hours later, though this time only for the car, whereas for earbuds it is ok.
