Hi everyone, Don't know if others are having this issue.
I got a new Android phone, LG G4, and for some reason whenever I'm playing Spotify either in the background or in the app, it continues to play after I remove the earphones from my phone. Never had an issue with any previous Android phones or even on my computer. I know it's not the G4 issue since other apps stop playing automatically just fine.
Anyone else having this issue with Spotify? Wondering if it's just a bug and it's just a quick update fix.
Thanks!

Hi,
I am not sure if Spotify reads this thread...it is all said, these faults really make it unusable these are not just disturbing ones.
As I wrote like 4 weeks ago, I downgraded to 3.9.0.965. And I haven't seen the problem since then.
I was going down release by release and found this one is the correct one.
So Spotify please compare what is implemented in 3.9.0.965 and the later releases.
I have 5.1.1, and S6 edge+. But seemingly that doesn't really matter...which make or version it is.
Cheers
Same problem just started fo me as well.
Last Monday I reset my phone to factory version, and installed everything again, and that's when it started.
I have Sony Xperia Z1 Compact
Android 5.1.1
Spotify 4.4.0.1008
Music does not stop when I unplug my headphones (3,5 mm jack) . I tried that while connected to Spotify on another device (computer) and not.
Music does not stop when I get a call.
Having the same problem with 2 phones, when unplugging audiojack and disconnecting bluetooth. This is however random, it doesn't always happen.
Spotify also randomly continues playing on Nexus 5X when:
- accepting a call
- starting/continuing a video
Phone: Nexus 5X
Android: 6.0.1
Spotify: 4.4.0.1008
Phone: Huawei P7-L10
Android: 5.1.1
Spotify: 4.4.0.1008
I'm having this issue too - Android 5.1.1 on my Xperia Z5.
It seems to be related to the Spotify processes being backgrounded (or whatever the term is) by the Android OS. If the music controls are visible on the lock screen, unplugging the headphones stops the music as expected. However if the music controls are missing (another annoyance which has emerged recently), music does not stop when the headphones are unplugged. It's pretty obvious that the app has been backgrounded because the Spotify icon disappears from the left hand side of the notification bar.
To work around this issue I have to reopen the app from a homescreen shortcut - unplugging the headphones then pauses the music, although it sort of defeats the point.
(Spotify version 4.4.0.1008)
Hi,
look for a version here.
http://www.apkmirror.com/?s=spotify&post_type=apps_post
You will have to uninstall the app before.
Broswe the page with your mobile broswer, chose the apk, download and install (uninstall newer version beforehand, deletes all dl music..). You may have to allow to install from unknown sources in the phone's seucrity settings.
Not had this problem since I enabled the "Device Broadcast Status" option in settings. Only been a couple of days but seems fairly promising - maybe others can try this as a temporary fix and see if it works?
I've not had the problem since before Christmas, but it's only because I haven't really been plugging it in regularly (I think it happens less often if you leave a good amount of time between connecting it, as the app may 'time out' in the background, much like manually closing it or restarting the phone will solve the problem for a while).
I just had the problem re-occur, so I tried enabling this option. The very next time I unplugged it, the problem persisted, so I guess we can count that out of the solutions 😕
Yep, the problem reocurred today for me with the broadcast option enabled. 😞
Same issues for me. Audio continues for the Xperia Z5. Even worse is that my headphones do not have a mic so if someone calls and i pull the headphones out the music keeps playing as I answer the call before I can pause.
Please fix this ASAP
Hello,
Same problem when removing earphones or when answering a call.
LG Nexus 5, Android 6.0.1, Spotify 4.4etc.,
I've contacted Spotify, here is their answer:
"Thanks for reaching out to us about Spotify playing when you answer a phone call.
We appreciate your effort for reporting this. Our tech folks are currently looking into it. A fix should be on its way in an upcoming update!"
Let's keep the pressure!
So far so good with 4.7.0.878. But still keeping my fingers crossed 🙂 Will report if the problem occurs again.
It seems better for me too, after re-installation.
Let's wait some time to be sure that the problem won't re-appear as it did in the past.
