Unable to skip back tracks using the earphones controls on Samsung S7 Edge

I've moved from an iPhone to a Samsung S7 edge and when tracks are playing, I can't skip to the previous track by triple clicking on the earphones control button. At first I thought it was the new earphones that come with the phone but even with my iPhone ones, it's the same. Any ideas?

It's not built into android but there are several apps in Play to give the functionality you seek.

Ah, thanks for that. So weird it's not an option. Do you have any suggestions for good apps that work well?

I haven't tried any myself but there are so many free ones, you can try them until you find one you like.

This is not true.

I had a samsung S3 and was able to do this. I then had an LG Nexus and was able to do this. Now I have an S7 and can't do this.

Google play music can do it, Spotify can't. Why? This has been bothering me for years now. I'm on a Samsung s8 here.
