Unable to start playlist sequentially from a given song

Unable to start playlist sequentially from a given song

Spotify for Windows works just fine. I have no complaints about that whatsoever.

But the Android app still has a bunch of odd behaviours for what should be simple things. I don't expect all the advanced settings or features for an app vs. the desktop version. That's fine. I just expect it to be functional.

I use spotify mainly from phones and tablets, which makes this all the more frustrating to know it works fine on Windows when I don't have my computer at hand.

What I want to do is to be able to:

open a playlist.

select and play a song.

when that song ends, it should continue playing the next song on the playlist. in sequential order.

That's what the Windows version does.

But on Android the default behaviour of tapping a song is to add that one song to a playque consisting of the top songs of the playlist. So when the song I have chosen ends it will always return to the top of the playlist for the next song.

If I wanted the app to do that I would open the context menu for the song and choose "Add to queue". That's fine. But that is not what I want to do.

If I just want to start a new playque from a certain point in a playlist, a certain song, and then continue playing songs from that point onwards, in sequential order. No shuffling.

How do I do that?

I don't have an existing playque. I don't have any old songs I want the app to return to. I just want to start a clean playque from a given song on a playlist and then continue onwards.

Any help is appreciated.

You're right, they've made a mess of the way music gets queued in my view. Only playing a song from an album replaces the queue and behaves as I would expect but not playlists. There's probably a request to change this behaviour in the ideas section but, if not, please post there - I'm sure you'll get plenty of support.
