What is this direct download link ?

Hello,

Which version of spotify is hosted on download.spotify.com/android/SpotifyAndroid.apk ? Is it the same as the one on the Google Play Store ?

I couldn't find documentation about this link.

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Community 🙂

This is just an alternative download for those who don't have access to Google Play. It isn't updates as often as the Google Play version is. The version of the *.APK is 8.4 while the latest one from the Play Store updated to 8.5.

I think it's a good idea to offer a direct download link for the app, not everybody has access to Google Play (LineageOS without Google services for example). I hope it will stay available.

(the only drawback is the lack of official documentation about this link, but it's not a big deal)
