My Question or Issue
As of recently, whenever I switch between my phone and google home mini or vice versa, whatever playlist I am listening to starts back from the beginning. This happens on regular playlists, a song radio, daily mix etc. It used to pick up where it left off, so it seems like something changed recently.
Hey @JB001,
thanks for following up! Sorry to hear you're still experiencing issues.
As you mention using the free service, does this happens with Pick and Play playlists too (such as Daily Mixes, Discover Weekly, etc.)? Or does this only occur with shuffled playlists?
Also, just to confirm, did you try a clean reinstall of the app as well, as suggested earlier in the thread?
It's worth checking if disconnecting other Bluetooth devices that you've linked to your speaker makes any difference. Some devices and models support multi-point connection, which could interfere with playback.
Keep us posted!

My Question or Issue
I have noticed recently when using Spotify Shuffle on my playlists, the queue refills with songs that have been listened to in previous sessions.
This usually occurs when my device connects to a Bluetooth speaker, or when connecting to my car via Apple CarPlay.
I have tried to resolve this issue by uninstalling and reinstalling the Spotify app, but it hasn’t seemed to have fixed the issue I’m dealing with. I’ve also turned off the existing playback settings prior to this issue.
I haven’t force quit the app, so it doesn’t involve relaunching the app after it has been closed.

My Question or Issue
Often when I connect my phone to a Bluetooth device (e.g. Portable speaker, car, wireless earbuds, Google Home mini), the queue list of upcoming songs for the playlist I was listening to will change, including replaying songs I already heard either in that session or earlier that day. This is with my self-constructed playlists with settings always turned off like smart shuffle and keep playing once Playlist over. It's very frustrating, as I almost seemingly the can't get through a Playlist. Has been happening for a long time.
Hey there folks,
Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.
@IoanStephens, thanks for the info shared. We'd like to gather some additional info. Please send us:
@justink410, would you mind sharing with us any troubleshooting steps you've tried so far? If you haven't, you can start with the suggestions made by @Maria. It'd be awesome if you could send us the info mentioned above.
Folks, it would be awesome if you sent us a video recording of this behavior. You can attach the videos in your next reply in mp4 format, or upload them to YouTube or Google Drive and make them public.

I am having this issue with the app on my iPhone. I tried a clean reinstall, I've deleted the app and downloaded again, I've even logged out. All of this is still happening. Every time I close the app my queue resets to the same songs. I don't want to listen to them, that's why I skipped them.
I am using version 9.0.50.511 and have not done any OS updates lately. I just noticed the issue this morning. I had great songs queued up and when I went to play them, they were no longer in the queue. It had refreshed to some songs from yesterday.
Hi AlejaR, the current Spotify version I’m running is 9.0.50.511
I don’t recall when this issue started as another user has said the shuffle has been a problem for sometime now, but I’d say about until the end of May is when I started to notice the shuffle adding recently played songs back into the queue.
I only really use my mobile phone to listen to music when driving to and from work, and that’s when I notice the shuffle acting up.
I have tried to replicate this issue in the past few days in order to capture it and post on this forum but I have been unable to replicate what I am describing, unsure whether it has been resolved or not but the last time I updated the app was on the 4th June according to my App Store.
I have two pictures. One shows the songs I had queued. Then I closed the app, opened the queue, and you can see it’s completely different.
I have also been having the same issue for quite some time. If I play playlist music on my phone in the morning on shuffle, and then later in the day hop in the car, it starts that playlist from the same spot it was at when I was listening on my phone. I just want it to pick up where I left off... however - it seems to resolve itself the next day (like when I haven't listened to Spotify for several hours/overnight).
Phone - Samsung Galaxy S22
Spotify version 9.0.50.416
I transition listening between my phone (when I'm running for example), my Google speakers (we have 5 that inside), bluetooth speakers outside (2 groups) and the car via bluetooth.
To clarify - it will restart the same playlist on shuffle in the same order from the same spot it started at in the morning... (not from where it left off).
Hey there @KellyC81,
Thanks for posting here and welcome.
Just to confirm, have you tried some of the troubleshooting steps mentioned by @Susan? If you haven't, give them a try and let us know how it goes.
If that doesn't do the trick, as mentioned by @Eni above, please send us:

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify and rebooted speakers etc. No change to behavior.
I already entered my phone information as well as the Spotify version (unless the information wasn't what you were looking for). ALL devices are affected... It happens EVERY.DAY... I don't recall when it first started - this seems to be an issue from last year based on when the thread was started... I just did the "grin and bear it" thing since last year but it's really annoying so I decided to look it up today to see if others experienced this and thought maybe there was just a simple setting I didn't have correct. Happens over wifi at home, and as mentioned previously - when I'm in the car which would be cell service (5G typically).
Same here Pixel Pro 6, has been happening since I went to premium so over a year. Clean installs have been done, last time I spoke to Spotify it was because I was using liked songs instead of a playlist, created a playlist, same thing happens. Also happens on windows version of the app swapping between mobile and PC when I'm listening. It doesn't matter what connection you are using, it's happened over multiple android versions, multiple Spotify versions including the most recent (I clean installed last night). It is a fault, with the app, not a phone. If you do not pay for Spotify shuffle works great because it doesn't let you reply songs - apply that to premium with the ability to skip simples
Hey there folks,
Thanks for posting here and for the info shared.
@KellyC81, we really appreciate all the info you kindly sent us. Would you mind sending us more info about the Google speakers you've mentioned? Send us the make/model of those.
Additionally, could you send us a video recording of this behavior so we can have a closer look at it? You can attach the video in your next reply in mp4 format, or upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public.
@Slosh1111, we understand where you're coming from. In order for us to continue investigating this behavior, we'll need:

Honestly??? Doing a video is going to be quite lengthy and I'm going off of other's issues here - this is not isolated, nor does my Google speaker make/model have anything to do with it. However they are Google Nest speakers. Happened again today after listening in my office (on the Google Nest speakers) - got in the truck to drive across town and it started over at the same song it started with this morning when I first started listening. This is not the first song in my playlist, it is shuffling the songs... but it's essentially starting over where I started earlier today.
Hey folks,
Thanks for your replies and the info you've provided
We've forwarded this to our tech team and we'll keep you posted on any updates in this thread.
Cheers,
Hey folks,
Thanks for your replies and for all the info you kindly shared with us.
We went ahead and passed this onto the right team. We'll let you know here as soon as we get any news to share, so we'd recommend you subscribe to this thread.
We understand taking a video of this behavior might be difficult, but it'd be really helpful if you could try.

Hey, just posting this to bring it to supports attention that after the most recent update last week, it appears that if you are using your playlist for a day or two, it remembers what the last song was of the session, but resets back to the starting song of the playlist (let’s say for example my last session ended on Beetlebum by Blur but returns to playing Überlin by REM which was the first song playing from 2 days ago), been doing this for about a week now. Bringing this up because it affects people who like having their playlists or liked songs on loop, especially the ones who have extremely large playlists or collections
Current Spotify version running on iPadOS: 9.0.50.511
Current iPadOS version: 17.7.8
Cannot confirm if it’s also happening on iOS or Windows
There literally memes being created about this issue, how can Spotify not be aware?

My Question or Issue
Whenever I remove songs from the queue and continue playing the same queue after an app restart it adds the removed songs back in their original place or the start of the queue if the original place was passed
I have only confirmed this on mobile but it might apply to pc as well
