In this case, we'd like to gather some additional info. Can you let us know the exact OS of the affected device along with the current Spotify version you have running?

On another note, we understand you've already tried reinstalling the app on your device, but we'd like you to perform, if you haven't yet, a clean (more thorough) reinstall of the Spotify app. You can find out the steps to do it here.
 

Lastly, keep in mind for Spotify to function properly, it’s important that the app has permission to operate in the background. If this permission isn’t enabled, Spotify will be unable to operate properly causing it to stop responding when your lock screen is closed.

To allow background activity, you can follow these steps:

1. Go to your phone's Settings.
2. Tap Apps.
3. Search and select Spotify.
4. Tap Battery.
5. Make sure that the Allow background activity switch is set to on.
