spotify doesn`t save to sd card

Solved!

spotify doesn`t save to sd card

Hello,

on my WIko Wax spotify is unable to save offline music to the sd card. Although the internal disk is full and there is plenty of space on the sd card spotify just says "disk is full". I also emtied the catch and deleted all data...doesn't help.

Thank you for your ideas!

Funny thing, but Audible works perfectly with adoptable storage. Saving music to an external SD card seems to have given Spotify's developers a problem for years now.

Hi,
for a few days I use an UMI IRON Pro still running on factory new Android 5.1
(16GB internal memory and 64GB SAMSUNG MicroSD card).

Unfortunately Spotify doesn't show me the new "storage option" everyone is talkin' about and no matter what I do stores to the internal memory, no matter how close it is (tested with only 300MB remaining space).

Now I got a suspect and indeed the IRON reports that the MicroSD card is not formatted, although my old SAMSUNG S4 Mini has done this 2min before.
After reformatting the card is available.

The SAMSUNG S4 Mini and also a HTC One M8s seem to format the SD card always FAT32!

The UMI IRON Pro formatted with exFAT!

I already outwitted Spotify on several devices like the S4 mini already with the common tips and community workarounds before the storage option and all offline playlists copied on the microSD card.
With this UMI chinese brand, apart from that well workin' device,
I despair just but because it simply will not work.

Does anyone still got an idea?
Thx 🙂

Try this folks. Works with my zperia z5.

1. Clean install - delete the app and all the folders using any file manager. Then download the old version found in the link (you may also refer to the chap's advice).
Install but do not run.

2. Permission - go to settings/apps/, then in the permissions you have to allow the "storage".

3. Run - login then download at least one song. After that, go to file manager and move the "com.spotify.music" from your internal storage to your sd card (sd/android/data). Replace or merge if asked.

4. Download - get the latest version of Spotify in Playstore. Run the app then cloae it. Check it again if there is any "com.spotify"music" made, move it again if you see one.

Run the app and go to settings, scroll down. You should be able to pick the storage of your downloads.

My phone is updated to the latest Android 6.

I don't have a clue how to listen offline to music! Do I initially need to start with internet every time I'm needing to listen offline? I basically need to start with internet, download and then I can listen offline? Where's the music saved! Please help! I'm lost! 😞

I'm disappointed that Spotify has maxed my internal despite having formatted a 32gb SD card as Internal... Had to reformat it as External just to move audio data to the card. (Marshmallow, Moto 3g.)

Perhaps your phone doesn't support the s4mini formating options.

So a factory reset on the phone too to ensure that spotify is wiped from the device. Format the card in your UMI Iron Pro. Install Spotify from the play store. This happened to me on my HTC M8S, and this is how I resolved it.

Guys all,

i have been spending my whole afternoon trying all of those things written in this community, but the success is somewhere else, not in my phone..
I have a ZTE L Blade 3 and i really wonder, how comes, that spotify doesn´t even ask you to select, where the music should be downloaded to.. by the way, i have really tried everything of your suggestions, and no one single worked.. so i am now paying the premium version, and it´s quite frustrating, not to be able listening your music all around.. can anyone please help me?

Just to let you know, i have been reading all posts about solutions for this problem until the 5th page starting from this https://community.spotify.com/t5/Android/spotify-doesn-t-save-to-sd-card/m-p/874789#M32280 , and tried EVERY SINGLE THING of the suggestions posted.

Did you make sure, when you first installed it, that you shouldn't go into
the app before you go to settings >> applications >> Spotify and give the
right permissions? (Aka storage) ???????

Hope you didn't and I jus helped you XD

##- There is no way i can do what you wrote on my phone.. -##

##- Thanks, this will be really helpful -##

Let me know which model you get pls

Hi @mannykurz. Could you confirm which versions of spotify and android you are running please. How much free storage is shown in internal and external storage?

Try the following steps and let me know if they work for you:

  1. Stop Spotify (Settings -> Apps -> Spotify)
  2. Manually create /storage/sdcard1/Android/data
  3. Copy 'com.spotify.music' and all subdirectories from internal storage to '/storage/sdcard1/Android/data'
  4. Open Settings -> Apps -> Spotify then tap 'Clear Data'
  5. Restart Spotify and log back in again
  6. Set Download quality to 'Extreme'
  7. Try downloading a large playlist

##- ok i´´ll try it right now, the manual folder is to be created in the
internal memory, right? this is the android version i´m using - 5.0.2 and
this is the spotify version i´m using - 7.0.0.1369 armV7 -##

No, the folder is to be created on the SD card. It already exists in internal storage.

##- i tried so far to create the folder in the internal memory first, then
in the sd as well.. what the phone does, when the folder com.spotify.music
is copied somewhere else, is creating a new one but ALWAYS in the internal
memory.. another thing, when i try to write the folder name with the / ,
the phone tells me i m using a wrong symbol, so i used the dot like this -
storage.sdcard1.android.data, but nothing worked so far.. -##
