spotify goes to the top of my music list all the time

i think it was the most recent update that made my spotify go to the top of my music list everytime i unlock my phone or open the app. i have tried clearing the cache, reinstalling the app, and restarting my phone( Galaxy s6).  this is really annoying because sometimes i know a song that i want to listen to after what i am listening to, but i have to scroll all the way to the bottom every single time.
