Issues with using "Search" - keyboard does not appear automatically

We received several reports from users about "Search" not working as expected on Android: the keyboard does not appear automatically when tapping on the magnifying glass icon.

My Question or Issue

For the past 2 days, the search bar hasn't worked. It doesn't display the keyboard, so I can't search. I reinstalled the app, but nothing has changed. What happened?

I think I have figured it out, if you tap the search icon at the bottom of
the screen then on the next page tap the search bar at the top of screen
then on the next page tap the top of the screen the keyboard shows up. Such
a mess.

Hi..

I've turned shuffle etc off everywhere & the keyboard is still not coming back up in search.. when I tap in the search bar it goes straight to recent searches... I deleted those and it shows the box "what would you like to listen to"

This workaround does NOT work for me. Pixel 7a. There is no way for me to get search to work. I can only choose from my recents.

When I try to enter a search, I'm taken to "recents." I've done the following to no avail:

Logged out and in

Restarted the phone

Cleared the cache

Uninstalled app, reinstalled new one

I can search my library, which means as of now all I can find is what I've already found.
