Adjusting column widths on desktop version

So, looking back at similar posts from 3 years ago, it still doesn't seem possible to adjust column widths on the desktop version.  It means that a great deal of song information is, more often than not, hidden from view.

Firstly, does anyone know a way to get around this irksome deficiency?

Secondly, has Spotify ever given a reason for removing this basic, beyond basic function?
