Desktop update

Desktop update

The new desktop update looks awful, the UI is ugly and takes up too much room. Please at least give listeners the ability to turn it off, I don't want to use Spotify anymore with this update

The layout for artists, albums and playlists was really confusing to navigate because I got so used to having the old layout from yesterday, and I was disoriented trying to find all my playlists in the order I had left them. It kind of feels like the Windows 8 hotmail interface, which makes sense for having to organize a lot of emails with a lot of text, but not music. I find it weird to organize information about songs, artists and albums this way, because it's a much smaller amount of info. It's a little distracting and having two menus to scroll through and navigate is a bit much 😕

Hi @songbirds and @MissCarol

There is a way to set your UI to look the most like the old one.

Here's how to get it as close as possible to the old sidebar:

In the left "Your Library" sidebar, click on the "Playlists" filter.

Then, in the sort drop down select "Custom order". You will then see your previous playlist order and be able to reorganize your playlists (move playlists and folders like before)

Your current preference will be remembered each time you start up the Spotify desktop app.

If you would like to only see text in the Your Library sidebar, go to the Spotify app Settings ---> Library ---> and select "use compact library".

You can also drag the left sidebar to different sizes, as well as fully expand the sidebar by clicking the arrow button, and fully collapse the sidebar by clicking on the "Your Library" heading.

You can also access the old Your Library page by pressing Alt + Shift + 1-4 on your keyboard.

Spotify actually has almost 40 keyboard shortcuts! You can see them all by pressing Control + (/) on your keyboard.
