Device advice for lowest tech way to have access to playlists

Hi! My daughter is going to a boarding school in a rural area with very limited wifi and no cell phones allowed. (It’s a mostly screen free campus, they can use internet in the library but are encouraged to be present with their peers otherwise… not scrolling.) She can and is encouraged to bring things that will help her bond with her new friends, such as music playlists. We are premium members and so, theoretically she can make and download playlists from Spotify and put them on a device to take with her and update her playlists when she’s home on breaks. Something like an mp3 player that can connect to a speaker would be ideal but I understand MP3 players don’t  interface with Spotify. So, my question is: what is a relatively low tech solution to having a device that we can download a few Spotify playlists to that has no SIM card or wifi and probably a minimal screen. Thank you for your suggestions!
