How will Spotify compete (HD Music)

Thought this would have been done to death but nothing jumped out so lets address the elephant in the room...

Spotify just recently ramped up their family plan and a promise of HD music later this year, one could be forgiven to assume at an increased price since its stated users can "upgrade"...

But then Apple and Amazon, both cheaper since this price rise - now also (will) include HD at no additional cost - how can Spotify possibly remain attractive?

I have been with Spotify for years and compared to others the app and functionality is much better (anyone explain why spotify has better integration with Alexa than Amazon music!?! LOL ) - but its already more expensive for lower quality streaming so I reluctantly need to consider moving away - and I cant be the only one.

e.g. Annual Amazon music (as already a Prime subscriber) is £150 (or £180 if not) vs £216 for non HD Spotify....

I moved to amazon music since it is cheaper AND includes HIFI (amazon call it "HD") for no extra charge spotify's quality simply can not compete. Some parts of spotify are better such as search/algorithms but in the end I can live with the differences. Also spotify's "HIFI" library will be smaller than amazon's (it takes time to update songs to flac quality) at launch also not that not all songs will be flac quality it depends on the record labels song libraries as to what's in Hifi quality. Not even tidal has all songs in "MQA" format (their "hifi" version) and they were the first to launch a hifi tier.

I completely agree, and after having tried Amazon Music HD & Ultra HD i think i will fly away from Spotify.

This is a hard decision. I've been on Spotify for years and Spotify's catalog is far better, but.......with Amazon i can spend less with more audio quality.
