Spotify, you've done it again with the appalling updates (they're getting so bad, it's actually laughable) - whats up with the sidebar on the right or for the mass of functions on the bottom right?
Is 'simplicity is key' not in fashion anymore? At least could you guys possibly code a 'revert to original interface' button? Or is it not 'innovative' enough? 🙂
It wouldn't be so bad if it stayed closed, like the friend activity sidebar, but this new atrocity opens every single time I click on a song. Make it stop.
Right? It's so inconsistent! I understand that they want to do user testing, but they've tested it, and we hate it 😂
i hate it so much why would they change it no one asked for it and the ui two updates ago was perfect
I genuinely just don't understand this UI decision. Splitting the UI into two columns was already bad enough by completely removing the centralized location that displays information I actually need and want in a consistent manner. But now this third column even further degrades the experience just to display the utmost useless information that I would never need nor want to know. It's as if Spotify is trying to kill their desktop client by providing us with the worst user experience imaginable to force us to exclusively use the mobile app.
Under Display in Settings, the top option is to disable that panel. Seems to be working for the time being?
Meanwhile, a year later and my Daily Mixes still have not updated. So glad they have their priorities as straight as ever.
Thank you!! Did they just add that option or did I just not see it? Because I was desperately trying to find a way to turn it off the other day and couldn't find anything.
Mine only just started doing that obnoxious pop-up thing today, so I'm not sure about before.
AHH THANK YOU!!!
And that's so strange, mine change every few days. Instead of trialling new things, they should adjust the older bugs first!
I just want to be able to see the album art in a bigger size, no need for any other info. Also I hate that it replaces the friends feed, I know many people are not a fan of it but I like being able to throw a quick glance at what other people are currently listening. WITHOUT having to close some other panel!!! There's multiple issues with putting these 2 things in the same place:
1.You can't easily switch between views. Opening one closes the other, but closing the second DOES NOT open the first again, which is very annoying as the buttons are in completely different places.
2. The width I like for my friends list is smaller than what I want for album art, making it so either one of the panels is constantly configured in a sub-optimal way or I need to resize the side-panel every time I switch between views.
All in all a completely unnecessary and bewildering design choice
I hope the designers see this!
I do agree, I sometimes flick the 'Friends Activity' on and keep it to the smallest size so I can view my friends' songs and see mine at the same time - I liked the fact that I could choose how big I wanted that panel to be. I don't understand the need for extra buttons, like having to go purely to settings now to see Friend Activity!
