Whats up with the new home screen being random playlist? Its really bad, can I change it back?
My bro has the same phone, same update, same everything. And he has the old UI / Design.
I have the new one and it's horrible!!!
Is there any way to get the old design back ? Solutions ?
Okay, I found a solution:
Just download the version: Spotify 8.6.10.581 as a APK and download it over google search etc...
Cheers
I tried older versions but they install and won't run at all. Did you try others and find it's this specific version you need to get it going again ?
I am really unhappy with the new UI layout. I can’t access my recently played music and find it clunky and truly worse in every way. Please change it back to the old UI. I’m genuinely considering switching to Apple Music and I’ve been with Spotify for nearly a decade.
Do it! Leave!
I'm already gone to Tidal, just going to migrate my kids across and then that's it. I'm only staying on this thread to see where/if it all ends and what (if any) official response we get back from Spotify.
I canceled my subscription this morning. My commute to work has reduced to 15 minutes anyways, so I can just use free Spotify or another app entirely. There's no point giving Spotify my money when they've taken away 80% of how I used the app.
this new home UI is god awful. impossible to find anything new to listen to with it. why in god's name would i want to scroll for 5 minutes past podcasts, top 50 artists ive never listened to in my life, and those awful algorithm generated playlists to get at something i might maybe be actually interested in. looks and feels like a college freshman's graphic design project. terrible, terrible, terrible.
New layout SUCKS SPOTIFY!! I hate it. It’s so bad. Please revert, this has been total garbage and we all want the old one back.
@spotify, change it back. Layout sucks so bad!! I can’t see the music I want to listen to anymore. Stop switching it up. PLEASE
Bad news direct from Spotify's Support team.
"I'm afraid I can confirm that this update is actually not a test and it's being officially rolled out in batches, so every user is expected to see the same UI in the near future. We're actually getting a lot of reaction on this move and you can be sure that we're taking note of everything, so we can make the necessary improvements that our valued users want. I recommend keeping the app updated as patches come in updates. Thank you for bearing with us."
So for some reason it looks like they're going to try to put everyone on this ridiculous new Home page. My advice to everyone is to unsubscribe until the app is worth paying for again.
Let the chaos begin. If this is indeed a roll out rather than beta I predict some extremely unhappy share holders in Q1 of 2023. I'm already on Deezer now.
Guys i've found this tweet on the spotifycares profile, it shows the same ui that we have. so it really is a general rollout of the feature 😞
It's very sad that they aren't trying to listen to the user feedback and instead are pushing their business without second thoughts. If it continues like this I will consider cancelling my subscription

wow the blatant lies there.
"I see stuff I don't like"
"long press or dots to hide recommendations"
well no. there is only "like", "download", "share", "add to playlist"
Too sad.
This update brings it harder to find all daily mixes etc.
Too much scrolling. I mean are they going to make similar change to the desktop app eventually with these BIG boxes?
I really hate this new update and it just makes me ignore the home screen on mobile most of the time. The old system was in every way superior and I actually used a lot of the recommendations it gave me, now I just go to old music I already know. I really hope this won't be implement on a bigger scale because to me it mainly just ruins the one big advantage Spotify has over other music streaming services, the algorithm.
Absolutely brutal update. Usability has gone out the window (running 8.7.68.568).
As a VERY regular user who likes to explore music all day long, this has tanked my usage on mobile. I really despise using the app now.
Have to either go with desktop or carplay...
Between the absolute ramming of podcasts down my throat (which I don't listen to), and the lack of core functionality (recently played, daily mixes), and the terrible density of information on the home screen, they've made the iOS app a real pain to use.
Talking to Support again, got elevated to "the highest level of support", the Escalations Team.
I'm afraid we cannot confirm if or when your feedback will be addressed. But rest assured that your feedback has been passed on to the relevant team.
Same old song and dance spoken by 3 different Support members. Don't worry, your feedback is being heard!
What a joke.
Left on "Read" in support for 30 minutes, only for the "Escalation Team" to instantly end the chat with a "Sorry but".
Again, vote with your wallets. Cancel subscriptions and request refunds.
I'm not convinced that the feedback has been passed on at all. It's just from the same script.
I'd be interested to hear from Spotify about why they think the new home screen is an improvement on the previous version and how it assists users to find music and relevant playlists.
There hasn't been any official comment since it was rolled out in September. Maybe there is feedback that some users prefer the new look and I'd also be interested to hear why those users think it's an improvement but they're unlikely to be reading this thread.
Having said that, give us the option to choose the previous home screen! Just noting that Tidal offers a similar home screen to the previous Spotify screen.
I don't hold out much hope, but weirdly my iphone has just reverted to the old home screen style after weeks of the ghastly one. However my ipad still has the terrible UI, which is even more offensive on such a big screen. Whoever designed this change either doesn't understand UX, or has been directed to lower information density for some reason? (Maybe to give fewer options, lower load on back end - who knows).
What is even worse than the TERRIBLE design is the lack of feedback from the company. It is so offhanded and faux concerned. It reminds me of dealing with Sonos (who I've also ditched)!
Regardless my sub is cancelled and I'm on apple music now. The rest of the family are annoyed at me, but whatever it takes to get the message across.
