Creating A New Account

Hi,

I want to deactivate my FB account but still use Spotify. I tried signing for a new account with my email but it keeps telling me that the username is taken. Any ideas why this is happening?

I've tried various usernames (even random letters) using different browsers and computers and get the same problem.
