I created a Spotify Account recently about 2 weeks ago. Apparently it had my country down as UK. Today it told me that I should change my country because the IP address was not in the UK. It then told me that I could only use Spotify for 14 days while traveling. I haven't left the US in this period of time, and have no idea why it thought I was in the UK to begin with. Is there a way to change US to my home country so that I can use Spotify free?
Solved! Go to Solution.
I had already done that. Both of them said that I was in the USA. I seemed to think that I should have been in the UK, and wouldn't let me use Spotify without upgrading. I went to check on it today, and it loads just fine. I have no idea why it didn't work, or why it works now. I am just happy that it does. Thanks for your help, though.
Hej,
go to https://www.spotify.com/uk/account/profile/, you should be able to change your country there, if your account is not connected to your Facebook profile.
Probably it will automatically change if you change your country on Facebook.
Tell me, if it works for you!

The same thing happened to me, except the country I am currently living in is not included in the list of countries Spotify is made available to. Of course, I only found out after installing Spotify on my desktop. In the last 14 days, whenever I went to the Spotify website logged into my account it kept telling me Spotify is not available in my country.
I guess the desktop app sets your country to UK by default so you can try Spotify for 14 days, after which you have to change your country by giving out card information. So that's it for Spotify on my desktop, as I am unable to continue listening without switching to one of the countries on the white list (where my country is excluded from). Uninstalling.
I have an American ip yet I live in Australia.
I went to edit my profile but the country dropbox was greyed out, Because Spotify thinks i'm American when i go to upgrade to premium it doesn't let me because i'm using an Aussie debit card.

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂
Thankfully you can use your debit card as proof of location to change your country. Head to:
https://www.spotify.com/account/subscription/change-payment/#change-country
login and then click the "Change my country" option in the first paragraph. Enter all of your country and payment details and it should let you change country and then subscribe.
