cannot undo secondary account

cannot undo secondary account

From:

https://www.spotify.com/us/help/faq/tech/secondary-account-created/

  1. If you are logged into your original account here on the website, log out, using the link in the top, right corner of the page.
  2. Log into the Subscription page for the second account account, using your Facebook login.
  3. Cancel the renewal of your subscription, using the link under “Manage your subscription”.

The third instruction does not apply. I don't have any kind of subscription renewal to cancel for the secondary account that uses my Facebook login and therefore cannot be rid of it in order to correctly connect Facebook to the initial account. Further, the secondary account should not have been created in the first place since I'd already synced my initial account with Facebook. I never detached them; I simply logged in with Facebook tonight with my phone and this somehow prompted the creation of a new account. I need the second account deactivated. The initial account is the one on which I'm paying the monthly fee.

I have exactly the same problem. I cant get rid of my second account.

At the risk of saying me too, me too. I have the problem. I thought my CC expired but instead I now have two accounts and paid $20 this month for spotify. Joy.

Hi Everyone!

Novalism- I can't find any duplicate accounts linked to your Facebook. Is your Facebook linked to a different email address from your 'novalism' Spotify account?

Klasse1234- I've deleted that duplicate account for you. This time, try connecting your Facebook via these steps:

1. Log into Facebook
2. Select the "Music" app on the left hand side of the page
3. Click on any Spotify track
4. Click on "Open Spotify" NOT "I don't have spotify"
5. Log in with your 'klasse1234' username and password
Iamcornholio- I can see you've already been in touch with our support team and they are sorting out these two accounts for you. Please have a look in your inbox for their latest email.

Like everyone else, I'm experiencing the same problem. After being a paid member for many many months and using my phone with all kinds of synched data/playlists, all of a suddent last night my phone told me I was starting a 48-hour trial. When I tried to logout and back in using my Facebook credentials it somehow signed me up for a second account.

On my desktop it is still using my original account, but that account is no longer tied to spotify. I don't seem to know my oriignal Spotify account's password, but I can't reset it because anytime I try to it says, "this email address is tied to a Facebook-based account" and tries to get me to change my password on Facebook.

Can I get this duplicate account (the one tied to Facebook, seemingly) deleted? The spotify account that seems to be tied to "jargylplath" is the original. Can you verify based on sign-up dates before dropping one of the accounts? I have tons of playlists and starred songs and so forth that I would hate to lose, especially for a product that I pay for.

Thank you!

If you request to delete your secondary Spotify account, nothing will happen to your FB right? (like deactivating)

Thanks for posting that jarglyplath. The exact same thing is happening to me. Is Spotify aware of this problem?

Jargylplath and everyone else, thanks for laying the problem out so clearly.  I'm having the same issue.

Spotify:  none of us are able to use the Premium service on mobile.  That's why we've been happy customers.  Please fix this quickly, and don't hesitate to comp a free month, to keep us singing your praises all of our Facebook friends.

i'm having the same issue since yesterday. I created a secondary account using facebook, and from then, my main account does no sonnect with facebook anymore 😞 Can you fix that ?

Thx

Hi everyone,

You should all be able to access your original accounts by logging out of the Spotify app and logging back in with your Spotify username (not your email).

If however you're having trouble connecting this original account to your Facebook, it's mostly likely because a 48 hour trial has been started on the secondary account.

This trial starts automatically when you log into the secondary account from a mobile phone. For more information on this please see this similar thread

Naturally my Facebook name is not the same as my username. If you need to obtain my "real" name in order to reconcile it with my account, I'll have to share it with you outside of this forum.

Hi Novaslim- No problem at all. Just fill out our contact form and we could troubleshoot via email.

Hi

Having same preoblem as many others on here. Looks like a secondary account, linked with my facebook, has been created. I would like to get rid of this account and re-connect my orginal account with facebook (username: tausney)

Could someone kindly delete my secondary account?

You might be able to reconnect these yourself using the steps outlined here.
