Feature Idea: Session Playlists (Temporary, Low-Friction Listening Mode)

Many users listen to music in short-term phases based on mood, recency, or specific situations. Currently, Spotify offers queues, liked songs, and playlists—but none of these fully support quick, low-commitment listening sessions.

The queue is too temporary and disappears after use
Playlists feel too permanent and require effort to create and manage
Liked songs can become cluttered and don’t reflect current mood

Proposed solution: Session Playlists

A Session Playlist is a lightweight, temporary collection of songs that users can quickly create and use for a single listening session or short period of time.

Key Features:

• Quick creation: Add songs via a “Start Session” or “Add to Session” option or something like that
• Flexible playback: Shuffle or play in order like a normal playlist
• Temporary by design: Option to auto-delete after a set time, when playback ends or when the session is ended
• Low commitment: No need to name, organise, or permanently save
• Optional save: Users can convert a session into a full playlist if they enjoy it

Why this matters

This feature fills the gap between queues and playlists by giving users a fast, flexible way to control what they hear right now without long-term commitment. It supports real listening behaviour—where users often want a small, curated set of songs for a specific mood or moment.
