#MusicMonday Review - November 2025

osornios

#MusicMonday is the hashtag I've been using for quite a while to share music recommendations from up-and-coming artists. Always fresh, and always different, trying to look for trends before they become one. You can check October's Part 2 review for more music.

Is life a blessing or a curse? When situations drag you down, this issue's tracks make you realize you may not be the only one there, and things can get better. Give them a listen, with a word from the artists themselves. 🎧

Craig Edmonds – August Flowers

CraigEdmonds2.jpgLocked out
Of my brain again
I feel knocked out
Every now and then

Like there's a chain lock
Buried deep within
And I can't find the combination to get me in

We begin in London, England, for a singer & songwriter Indie Pop track about feeling distant with who you are, and  letting things go:

"It started as a poem really, the chorus was a standalone thing I wrote before the music (something I don't usually do) and then everything followed from that.

To me, the words were about depression creeping in. When its something you've lived with for a long time, you understand that it isn't going anywhere, but how you recognize it, and how you cope with it are the parameters that can change. So I wrote the verses to match that sentiment. How it feels to me to describe depression to someone in the first verse, and reassurance/hope in the second verse.

I knew the song needed a lift somewhere, so in the middle 8 its like an affirmation of feeling grateful to be alive and to be breathing and present."

We fly now to St. Thomas, Jamaica for a Reggae track about dancing all night long, to that drum and bass sound, with the girl of your dreams right next to you. This groove is like magic:

"I received the instrumental from House of Riddim. When I heard the beat I immediately thought of doing a authentic reggae song. The song is a love song to reggae music.

It is difficult to say exactly what inspired the song. I wanted to create a song that reggae music lovers would share a similar appreciation for the genre."

The Corvids – Ghost (In Your Arms)

TheCorvids.jpgYou've heard enough of my voice
choke me while I try to speak
the city's in flames but the fire won't speak for me

I'm a minute from home but I feel so far away
and I don't care if I don't but you made me feel so safe
in your arms that day

We go back to Pontefract, England for an Alternative Rock track about longing for a moment of your past you won't let go, without saying anything out loud:

"When we wrote Ghost (In Your Arms), the idea was to create an energetic crowd-pleaser. We stripped things back technically to keep it simple but gave it a strong, driving pulse that we knew would translate into something fun for our live sets. It’s also a way for us to break up our discography a little—injecting a track that’s built less on complexity and more on immediacy. From the very start, we wanted people to be able to recognize it within the first few seconds, something that hooks them right away and sets the tone for the rest of the song."

The PainKillers – Do You Know

ThePainKillers.jpg

can you see me
see my tears

are we really
seeing clear

can you feel it
feel my fear

I'm falling down now
Hold me near

We now travel west to Manchester for a Lo-Fi, Alt Rock infused track about those strong feelings that make you question everything about yourself. Do you know?

"It was from an experience I had coming off some awful medication I had to take for my chronic pain condition it really effected me and made me feel super low so I got quite down and depressed and it’s about realizing your changing and doing something about it as I know lots of people experience that too one way or another hope that makes sense ha!"

Shady Quid – Dogtail

ShadyQuid.jpg

I’ve been frantically running around
Running round in circles wearing myself down
I’ve dug myself into another hole in the ground
I’m deep down below and there’s no one around

I shout up for help but they can’t hear a sound
I'm stuck hear forever in this pit I am bound
I deserve to be here but I want to be found
I want to be found

We end up in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, for a Country influenced, Americana track about life being unfair, where you never seem to win. Are we paying for our sins?

"I would say it’s about the poor young man’s experience with moving from adolescence to adulthood. The metaphor of the pit or hole he finds himself in after wearing himself down with worry is carried through both verses. Ultimately, at the end of the song, it’s about realizing that you have to grow up and stop feeling sorry for yourself, and therefore becoming an adult."
