My Question or Issue

When I go to play a song with the song as the full picture of my phone, the artist name almost disappears. I only see white lines of where the name should be. I have an iPhone SE so I’m guessing the Spotify update did not factor in smaller screens and there is bug on small screens.

Hi there @Jk44444,

Thanks for reaching out!

Can you let us know what you do to access the song in fullscreen so that we can check on our end as well? You can also send us a screenshot of what you see so we can have a closer look.

It'd also be great if you can share what size the text on your iPhone's set to (Settings > Display & Brightness > Text size). It's possible that it might be causing this if it's bigger so try decreasing it. Also, has this started happening after a recent update or has it been going on for a while? Were you able to see the artist names normally before?

Keep us posted.

I have this problem too, also on iPhone SE. Artist text is cut off on the now playing screen. Text size in settings is set to default, middle of the range (I tried changing it and it didn’t help). Also tried reinstalling the app. Attached are screenshots.

Hey @c16,

Welcome to the Community and thank you for joining the conversation.

We appreciate the info you've included in your post. To continue investigating this behavior, we understand you’ve already tried some troubleshooting steps including reinstalling, but to be sure that we're on the same page - did you use the steps for a clean reinstall mentioned in this article? If not, we'd recommend following them to see if it makes any difference.

Also, would you mind letting someone log in with their account on your device - such as a friend or a family member, to see if the issue persists?

Lastly, it would be great if you could include in your next response the information previously asked by @Dessi??

  • This behavior started happening after a recent update or has it been going on for a while?
  • Were you able to see the artist names normally before?

We'll be on the lookout for your response.

Thanks, I tried the clean install method and using a different account but it didn’t make a difference.

The behaviour has been going on for a while but was normal before.

On further investigation it appears the issue depends on how playback was started - the layout appears different when using an automatically generated playlist like DJ compared to selecting the same track manually, see screenshots attached. On the DJ screen the cover art is larger and artist text is cut off, but when selecting the same track manually the cover art is smaller and text appears normally.

Hey @c16,

Thank you for your swift response and for the screenshots you shared.

Taking into account all the information you've shared so far, and as it's not happening with all playlists, the behavior you're reporting should be related to the issue mentioned here. The relevant team is currently working on a solution for this. Even if we don't have a specific date for this to be resolved, we hope it will be as soon as possible.

We'd recommend subscribing to that thread (3-dot menu > Subscribe) since any relevant updates about this will be posted there.

We appreciate the time you took reporting this issue. If anything else comes up, don't hesitate to ask.
