Can't I add music sound when sharing from Spotify to Instagram Story?

When uploading from Spotify Share to Instagram Story, there is no music sound and you cannot add it, which is very inconvenient.

Currently, there's no option to play the song you're sharing with background music. As an option you can post it in the Idea Submissions forum and it may be considered for future versions of the app.

Just be sure to check out if the idea is already there. If it's not, submit it after reading the idea submission guidelines. 🙂

Here's what I do:

1. Go to the share song part of Spotify and select instagram story.
2. When you're in the instagram story mode where you can add text or audio, select the ellipsis in the top right and choose "Save". It will download a clip of the story without audio to your camera roll.
3. Discard the instagram story.
4. Post a new instagram story from your camera roll with the clip you just downloaded.
5. Add the song of your choice from the "add music" option in the story editor. You now get a clip with the fun Spotify background animation and song info.

It shouldn't be this hard; must be a music licensing issue between streamers.

problem with that is, your spotify song won't be linked. So people cant tap on it and get led to the song directly.
