Hey! Welcome to our community! Only those who created the playlist can remove the songs from it, unless it is a collaborative playlist.
I talk about the auto generated playlists which start after your self made playlists finished. There also was a dislike button next to the like button with which i could remove the songs from those auto generated playlists. The dislike button is gone now.
Hey @isiack,
Thanks for your reply.
Can you please check if the Hide this song button is available in the 3-dot context menu? Also, check how things look on a different device using the same account.
Let us know how it goes.
That's a bit confusing, on my mobile i still have exactly that button. On the PC i can't edit the queue, i have the menu as shown in the picture and the dislike button next to the like button is missing. When i right click on the cover of the current song playing in the bottom left i have an additional option "Remove from this playlist". Does it do the same as the dislike button? If yes, it's inconvenient compared to the old system.
Hi there @isiack,
The Spotify app has different UI on different platforms and some functionality differs.
When it comes to the Autoplay song that start playing after a playlist is finished, there is no way to hit the 'Hide' button for those on PC, or to remove them from the playlist, as they're not in the playlist. They're just an automatically generated stream of songs similar to the ones in the playlist itself. On the Desktop app, you can just skip those songs.
You can see the 'Hide' button on Desktop in the Discover Weekly and Release Radar playlists.
Regarding the queue - you should be able to drag items around to rearrange them as you like in the queue on Desktop.
Hope this info clears things up.
I'm right there w/ the user who posted this!
The main difference for me is this extremely helpful feature only recently disappeared from my updated app (as of Oct. or Nov. of 2023).
As long as I can remember (going back years), Spotify's autoplay feature (i.e. *after* a given playlist finished) would, in fact, offer some mechanism w/ a button/dropdown to hide or remove a specific song track from the generated autoplay.
And it actually *did* say "remove from playlist," again despite fact the song wasn't technically in the user's own playlist shown.
Of course this was helpful b/c the autoplay suggestions are often pretty poor algorithm suggestions. . . . Still it was nice for those who quickly click through suggested tracks and remove as desired.
I really wish Spotify would bring this little option back.
Otherwise, I find myself and other users turning to 3rd party tools not at all run by Spotify (like Tunebat, which for specific tracks is better than ANY Spotify algo ever).
OS: Microsoft 365 (updated)
UI: Spotify for desktop (updated)
After the latest changes I have to say, Deezer seems like an alternative
