In order to make my Release Radar more accurate, I always select "I don't like this artist" when it recommends a song by an artist I don't listen to (anymore). However, it doesn't seem to have any actual impact on the playlist. These artists continue to appear. The only difference is that their songs function like unavailable tracks do on playlists. They're in gray font and they automatically skip. But they still hog the playlist. Considering I use Spotify a lot and I listen and follow lots of different artists, I don't think this is happening due to the lack of other possible recommendations.
Is there a way to solve this so that I can improve my Release Radar?
Hey everyone,
Thanks for bringing your concerns to the Community.
We hear you! We’re always listening to user feedback, and we will continue to innovate the product experience.
The best way to suggest improvements is through our Idea Exchange where you can either vote for an existing idea or submit your own.
Here are a few existing ideas we were able to find which we thought were relevant to your feedback:
[Discover] Users should have bigger control over the metadata kept for them and the suggested songs
[All Platforms][Discover] Exclude genre from recommendations like Discover Weekly
[Discover] Exclude selected Playlists from Taste Profile and Discover Suggestions
Tip: If there’s an artist you just don’t want to listen to at all, you have the option to block them by selecting ‘Don’t play this’ on the artist’s profile page in the mobile app.
In case you're interested in reading more about personalized recommendations, you can check out this blog.
Hope you’ll find this info useful.
Hi Xenia, thanks for replying.
I saw your reply (which looks curiously bot-like) earlier this week, that you mentioned outright blocking the artist, so I went on my phone and did just that. But no, I checked my release radar (fresh today), and I'm still getting Love Regenerator in there. While I appreciate the suggestions, there is factually a bug in your software and it is not working correctly.
This is not "feedback", this is a bug report, and should be treated as such. This is not something to take to "continue to innovate the product experience", this is an issue that should be written and fixed by a developer.
Adding my support behind kraedt above.
You've worded it so perfectly. It's like they're not even actually reading the thread. It's not us, Spotify. We've tried! In my case, for years!

I tried this tip, it hasn't prevented Hillsong Worship from appearing in my Release Radar again. This needs to be fixed.
Hey folks,
Thanks for your posts on the topic.
Taking advantage of the "Don't play this" feature should ensure that you won't hear any songs from an artist you don't want to listen to, although these artists might still be included (listed) in some playlists, even personalized ones (for example if you are following another artist who has a collaboration with one of the banned artists).
We're continuously working on improving our personalization algorithms, but for now this is expected as long as the unwanted content gets skipped.
Hope this clears things up. If you have any questions or need anything else, the Community is here for you.
Hi Kiril,
I understand using the "Do not play this" feature will not prevent the artist from appearing in playlists, even personalised playlists. My original bug report however was from using the "I don't like [artist]" feature on my Release Radar. I can only assume it's a bug because when I select "I don't like Hillsong Worship" for instance, I got the popup below. The app is explicitly telling me this artist won't feature in my Release Radar again. Then 2 weeks later, they pop back in. Hence, bug. Needs to be fixed.
This is my way of protest—I'm going to be posting every week with the artists I've previously indicated "I don't like [artist]" that have reappeared in my Release Radar, until this bug is fixed.
This week:
One this week, not as bad as last week:
I thought last week wasn't so bad, but how's about this: in the week since, another song has been added to my Release Radar. First of all, I didn't even know that was possible, I thought it only changed on a Friday. Second of all, the song's from Bethel Music, an artist who I've tried to tell Spotify I don't like at least 5 times!
This is my latest release radar. No point using release radar any longer since removed artists keeps coming back.
I have removed Adele three time
I'm suffering from the same issue on the Release Radar playlist. Whether I dislike single songs or artists completely, they do re-appear in Release Radar. I'm not following the artists either (as I'm not following any artists). I'm not willing to delete my account over that, I just want this fixed.
This keeps happening to me, except it's for the Red Army Choir which is pretty suspicious, Spotify. I don't want my streams to support the Russian military, thanks.
Doing the same here. Complete issue that’s getting from bad to worse. 75-80% of my release radar has constantly been artists I don’t want/hidden the song/have never even listened to. quite ridiculous that release radar has gone from the releases of artists you listen to, to some algorithm based track. Not even going to bother with this feature anymore
Had the same issue, recurring songs from an artist I did not follow, and had removed from my RR on multiple occasions. Was advice by a Spotify messenger agent that you can block artists, from the artist page (3 dots - don't play this artist) but only in the mobile app, not the desktop app. Hoping it works!
i used to get great release radars.. i understand your point but i started getting terrible songs by arrtists or genre i never listen in the last few months.. this is very bothering.. i keep removing them but still comes back next week and next..
there SURE is something wrong or changed by SPOTIFY and i lost my excitement for fridays...
same here.. i lost my excitement for fridays.. i don't think SPOTIFY cares anymore..
hi katerina, thank you, but honestly why a spotify customer should do this procedure?
why spotify doesn't remove the artists, genres that we customers click on remove in relaease radar.
then why there is a remove option? i keep getting songs and genres i never listen to..
i keep removing them but they come up again and again.. and your suggestion is to change my account?????
seriously ??
hi ivan,
i don't understand why spotify customers should change their account just because they keep getting music they never listen to, and even clicking on REMOVE button, they keep getting same artists again and again..
