Hey!
I faced an issue.
Spam releases have reached a new level.
Now they are masking as your artists and pasting their music. It affected mostly metal and metalcore bands. I asked my relatives and I'm the only one who's having this issue. Any ideas or maybe has the same problem?
Hey folks,
Thanks for your replies.
We can confirm that our content teams are reviewing the reports and that they're being actioned.
That being said, if you spot content being uploaded under the wrong artist profile, you can report it as described here.
Thank you for taking the time to post about this issue!
I have definitely noticed an uptick in the spam songs being tagged to real large and small name artists. I don't listen to metal or metalcore, but honestly, it's happening regardless of genre. They all appear in my Release Radar or in the sidebar under "What's New" etc. It's frustrating for listeners and artists that the app is becoming inundated with this fake stuff. It's quite obvious the artists aren't releasing these songs before even listening to the track. This will only get worse if Spotify doesn't start cracking down on this.
Ahh so i noticed this when one of my projects had the same name as another european artist, I think at the beginning when i didnt even realize it, i was getting some of their traffic , tbh I think instill do even after sorting it out. I often wondered if i made my name say "tool" or any idk any big name , if it would go up as their music, even if temporary. Spotify get on this!
so this breaks my heart to report, but i was cruising the music forums, found a kid boasting he automated a bot to generate , tag, distribute 150000 (yeah) songs in 2024. Screenshots to prove it. Made a pretty penny. Thats alot of songs. Once i emailed distrokid and asked about this, they told me i could distribute an infinite amount of ai songs, so they dont care. If youre reading this, welcome to the begginning of the end.
i thought i replied i guess not. 2 days ago i found someone boasting they made a bot to create, tag and distribute 150000 songs. hes not alone, he just was sumb enough to boast about it. i said that was scummy, and about 20 kids said im gatekeeping art. Make that make sense. 150k songs would take 208 days straight listening at 2 min a song just to hear!
My entire release radar today is songs pretending to be affiliated with the Wicked cast or performers. I think there’s more spam songs than real ones today.
Out of all the algorithmic playlists, Release Radar seems to be hit the harded for me as well. I seem to have a bit more luck with "Discover Weekly" or the Mix-Lists currently.
Current strategy by AI **bleep** seems to be tagging legit artists as collaborating with the track:
So if you're following the original artist, it gets recommended.
This is false advertising. Pretty sure that's a crime.
Maybe we’ll all be forced to get more real shows happening so we can hear real bands 😂
