My Question or Issue

Every time I open spotify I get greeted by this friendly lady on the cover of the playlist "Gently Mouthing you ASMR". I opened this playlist "ONCE". Additionally I get more recommendations for another ASMR playlist I opened once.. If I was listening to this kind of thing more often I would understand but the only reason I opened them in the first place was because Spotify kept throwing them in my face.

Spotify does not give me an option to remove this suggestion from this page and she's been there for more than a month already..

Every time I open Spotify at work I have to look behind my shoulder because of this unnecessary explicit content.

Even if it was a normal playlist, Spotify should give me the option to remove it from these suggestions no?!?

Giving users links to year-old "product ideas" for valid complains is not helpful.

Its January 5th 2023 and we still do not like this greeting. I do not understand why a album I tapped on once is in my "Good Morning" spot. No no its not a Good Morning

Here is the crux of the issue.. Right click on whatever suggestion you don't want on your home page, then select the 'about recommendations' option, and you'll see:

In some cases, commercial considerations may influence our recommendations, but listener satisfaction is our priority and we only ever recommend content we think you’ll want to hear. Our recommendations rely on signals from you, so keep on listening to the songs and podcasts you love!

If they allowed for a subscriber customizable home page, it would give them less ability to push whatever it is that they want to push.

Add the feature Spotify, I don’t want unwanted material in my feed either

In my center console car media display. I have "baby making music" 🤭 as permanent suggestion

Very annoying and embarrising

Spotify fix this! We are not asking too much of you

Just listen to a bunch of different podcasts and you will quickly push the unwanted one outside the "good morning" section. Apparently Spotify priorities podcasts in your gm section.

screw your vote! change it now!

3 years later and it's still not implemented. How embarrassing, Spotify. I don't even care about a Custom Homescreen to much, I simply want to be able to hold down the unwanted playlist/podcast and select "Do Not Recommend" or "Not Interested." It's that got dang easy. What a joke.

Perfect answer. Everyone cancel their subs from today and see what happens. There are other streaming services

The same sh*t happens to me. It is so annoying. For this very reason I do not ever open a podcast anymore. Spotify is pushing them way too much.

Same issue, but with an audiobook that’s locked behind a paywall.

I don't like podcasts. Remove them!!

Since this post still has some traction, I’d like to share my findings for a temporary solution using the Web Player. After looking literally everywhere, I couldn’t find anything to help with this problem. People kept saying that listening to playlists or albums for a long time eventually fixes it, but it doesn't for me. My recommendations weren't ever changing, no matter what I listened to or for how long/frequently. I just had a handful of random albums and playlists I've only played once or twice stuck on the Good Morning/Good Evening Home page. Here's my fix to that. It's a little clunky, but it actually works:

  •  Open the Web Player, go to the playlist/album you want to appear in the GM/GE recs, play at least 4 songs from said playlists/albums, click Home, then refresh the page 1 or 2 times. And voila! You should now have the playlists you actually want and listen to there!
  • For Podcasts; add the one(s) stuck to the GM/GE recs to your library, play it and go to the halfway point, mark it as "Played," remove it from your library, Home, Refresh, and that should do it!

Side Note: I have found that after doing a few refreshes in a row, it may seem like it stops working. In this case, it could just need a bit of time to catch up. Not sure how much exactly but they should change. Haven't tested it, but maybe clearing your browser cache and cookies might help make it work again too. Also, I'm not sure if it affects it, but you may wanna try to have all other instances of Spotify closed. Or maybe even have one open. I'm not sure tbh, it's all kinda just trial and error.

I HATE that Spotify doesn't give us the option to customize our home page. Even just simply dismissing specific recommendations would be such a huge quality of life feature.

Do you also do it for the podcasts on the webplayer? Should it be desktop?

It doesn't seem to work for me.

I still see these lame podcasts no matter. I'm not subscribed, played, I put 1 star, but nothing will help

Yep, to get rid of the podcasts you use Web Player too.

Just to be clear, you’re trying to remove it from the GM/GA/GE feed, right? If yes, then you gotta make sure you click the podcast you don’t want there from that feed, add it to your library, make it half way played or even just let it finish itself by making it only play the last few seconds, mark it as played, and then remove it from your library. Once all that’s done go to the home page and refresh a few times. That should work. Again, maybe clearly cache and cookies will help and also closing all other Spotify apps/desktop/tv players.

If you’re trying to get rid of podcasts all together, that’s not really what this guide is for. There is no way to get rid of podcasts regularly recommended on your homepage until Spotify gives us the ability to do so.

So the 6 tiles of my GM/GE were dedicated to MMA podcasts (some I even never listened to).

After playing the half of about 4 tracks in the webplayer, it indeed updated the tiles.

But I managed to remove only 4/6 of these podcasts, at one point the music tiles start to replace each others. And funnily the residual 2 MMA podcasts are some of those I never listened to.

You second solution "For Podcasts; add the [...]" didn't work for me.

Thanks a lot!

It drove**bleep** crazy. I actually happened to listen a podcast once in a while, but Spotify try so hard to push them to me, be sure I will never do the same mistake again, and will never EVER click one!

FO Spotify!

I had this issue and i ended up just starting a ton of random podcasts and other playlists and it cleared it away.

If you watch a bunch of other podcasts it shuffles them off over time

Hi Jeremy,

"We understand that things can feel frustrating when things don't work as you'd like them to. Rest assured that we're always trying to improve as we always strive to improve our features."

The problem is that Spotify doesn`t do s..t about anything...it just pushing the premium plan down your throat and gives nothing in return... For example, all the time i am listening to MY playlist, spotify comes in and for no reason and without my premission just throws in random songs...I dont give a s..t about those songs, that is why I have MY OWn playlist so i do`nt have to listen to all the junk out there.

Fix that instead of talking about all the s..t.

I`m seriously thinking of migrating to TIDAL, at least they leave you alone for your money.

So for the record, all the podcast tiles eventually got back. The solution with the web player is only a temporary fix, for me at least.
