My Question or Issue
Hi, my partner and I blocked each other mutually (at the exact same time) on Spotify but now we would like to unblock each other. Believe it or not, plenty of other people have done this before . However both of us can't find each other in the "Blocked users" list since we blocked each other. I believe that there is a design flaw in this blocking feature; it makes sense that we shouldn't be able to see each other's profiles (content, followers), but it seems like a lazy solution to completely hide the profile card and just not be able to unblock each other still. From a code perspective, it should not be too difficult to have a separate function in Blocked Users that allows one party to still unblock the other with a blank profile or something like that. Think of Instagram: when both parties block each other, they still show up in the Blocked Users list. With Spotify, there is no return. How can we unblock each other? I have attached screenshots of our Blocked Users lists (Settings > Privacy and Social > Blocked Users) showing that neither of our profiles show in the other's account. Please raise a ticket to get this design flaw fixed!
Hey @lilziesbro,
Thanks for reaching out!
Mutually blocked users cannot unblock each other for the time being, however we do thank you for this insight and the extensive feedback.
We've passed down the info backstage, but in the meantime, the only workaround would be for one of you to create a new account. The original account's contents can be copied by utilizing the steps from this FAQ article here.
Hope you'll find this info helpful! We'll keep you posted if there's any change on our end.
did you guys find a way?
The same thing has happened to me. It's meant that we aren't able to access the collaborative playlists we created together. When we try to access anything linked to each other's accounts it states "couldn't find page". I also noticed that no one else shows up in my blocked list anymore. I've blocked random users to see if they show up in my blocked list, but they haven't. This is very frustrating.
This is the WORST idea ever!! People are impetuous, can both have BPD, acting out of a moment in anger or frustration and NEVER knowing the hoops to jump through my Friend) and I are currently in trying to get our accounts out of deadlock because of mutual blocking. The profiles should still show up and the privacy blocked users settings. we have spent up to 2 hours just a day and separate Support chats trying to get this reversed and it is been incredibly frustrating. I cannot imagine this would ever take place without any kind of warning or notification. The worst
Yes! Due to this ridiculous deadlock, the Blocked Users setting is now completely gone. Anyone previously blocked (one way) is gone! @spotify this is a HUGE bug!
