My Question or Issue

Recently, when sharing a song as an Instagram story, a snippet of the song is automatically added to the story and played on viewing. It is not possible for me to mute it.

I would like to be able to mute the song, as I don’t like to have it represented with a short, meaningless snippet that I did not even select in awful sound quality.

Currently, it's not possible to mute the song when sharing on Instagram. At Spotify, we’re always testing possible improvements and new features, so you might see something on the app that other users don't, or get a brand-new feature for only a temporary period.

give us the option to play the sound or muted , sometimes the snippet is  just awful so please give us the option to mute

Unfortunately, there’s no way to turn the sound off when Spotify lets you share artwork with a song preview on Instagram.

However, you can support a similar idea by adding your vote and clicking Subscribe in the three-dots menu at the top right corner. That way, you'll stay updated on any relevant updates!

Seriously, you guys at Spotify know what we want. Don’t reply with the same bs of “Oh unfortunately there’s no way to mute the audio right now.” Don’t even bother. You know people want the option to mute it so don’t try to gaslight us by saying you are “open to ideas”

• Please please PLEASE let us mute the song in the story — it is SO dumb to have a random (bad) snippet of the song playing, and people (I am people) *hate* sudden random music popping up in Stories. So this terrible decision is just killing traffic to Spotify… I’m not sure why you guys still seem so wedded to this terrible change.
