My Issue is that whenever I start a video podcast I can let it play and the audio will still continue even if I switch to another app but once I go back to Spotify app it loses all progress and restarts the podcast.
I believe it’s just an IOS issue, not having this problem on my android or desktop, hopefully we get a fix soon
Solved for iOS: as other users confirmed below, it seems the Spotify app can be updated on iOS. I had to view the app in my purchased apps to see the update button. Not just the list but actually click on the Spotify app. Once updated, the video podcasts do not restart when switching between apps.
Just updated and now the podcast just turns off when I go back to it and won't load until i restart the app....oh boy
Im also having this issue. If i leave the app open, then lock my iPhone screen, then when I unlock it again, it rewinds to the beginning of the podcast, no matter how far into the podcast I am.
I have the latest version of the Spotify app (iPhone 12 mini) and am still having this issue. As others have said, it seems to happen with video podcasts only. For me, this means Rights to Ricky Sanchez. TTP.
Ditto! I’m running iOS 15.3.1 on IPhone 11 pro.
trouble shooting I’ve done:
logged out and logged back in. Problem still exists
uninstalled and reinstalled the app, problem still exists.
I only listen to Spotify on this device. I’m not logged in anywhere else. This started happening within the last 7 days.
same issue. just updated the app and the problem still persists.
I have the exact same issue. I consume tons of long form podcasts and this bug makes the app almost unbearable. Please work to resolve this issue for us. Thank you.
I can verify that this work around does do the trick but its cumbersome. Please continue to work on this bug Spotify. Thanks.
Hey folks,
There should now be a new update rolling out. You will be able to manually install it via the App Store and it should fix the issue.
If the new version isn't available yet, it will be available soon.
Keep us posted!
We'll be on the lookout for your responses.
Thanks!
Same here.
As some mentioned it seems to remember where to play from if i close the app and reopen it, and then it rewinds to that spot every time i switch between apps.
I also experience this only with podcasts that have video, because of this i think it might be spotifys fault not iOS.
We are paying for this app so i think this bug should be pushed forward asap.
Hi @JMarjan,
Thank for reaching out to the Community.
In this case, we suggest that you run a clean reinstall of the app on your device in order to get rid of any cached files that might be causing this issue. This one is more thorough than the usual one.
Once you reinstall the app, restart your device before launching Spotify again.
Let us know if this helps.
Same problem here. Making podcasts unwatchable.
Hey @Ethan87,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.
Since a recent update, some of those issues have been fixed. As you're still having the problem, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app. This is often an overlooked step, but it’s more thorough than a regular one and can be helpful to get rid of any cache of previous versions that might be causing trouble with your podcasts.
In case that the issue persists, include in your next answer the OS version and Spotify version you're currently running in your device. Also, let us know if this issue happens using a different device. This will give us a better look at it.
We'll be on the lookout.
