I have a premium account and when I start some podcasts I get ads in my national language "Danish" but the Podcast is in English and after the ads that Spotify have put into the start of the podcast I also have to listen to about 1-1½ min of ads from the podcast company.
STOP this Spotify, I pay for not hearing ads and you still stuff them into the podcasts.

Hey there @Vonplaf,
Thanks for reaching out about this and welcome to the Community. We'll be happy to shed some light on this 🙂
Spotify doesn’t play or include ads that interrupt the music listening experience of Premium subscribers. However, some podcast creators may include third-party advertising, host-read endorsements, or sponsorship messages in their episodes.
Regarding the language of the ads - it's normal to get ads in the local language of the country your current IP address is coming from.
We hope this clears things up. If you need anything else, give us a shout.
I've been listening to podcasts for years with Spotify, and am fully aware that creators have ads within the podcasts themselves. What I've noticed more recently is that Spotify, as a whole, are now inserting adverts on top of this.
I've read previous threads where you've responded blaming the creators, but now you are proudly showing the ads that you've pumped into what I'm listening to, and attached a picture to prove it (will likely be removed on upload, but shows direct links to "Huel" and "English Heritage" from the podcast page on spotify). You also run videos of the ads when they're being played, and I can't even skip it.
I don't have this issue with the music side of Spotify, so why the podcast side?
We have a family premium account with other members affected, and everything is paid for with no issues. How can I stop these ads from playing on podcasts?

I guess these bastards think that "oooh, we don't FORCE our ads on podcasts, we just GIVE the creators an option to roll the ads for them, that's different!". A bunch of mоrons.
I really hate what spotify has become. That's the F reason why adblocks exist! You get too greedy, so there's no damn reason to pay for your stupid service.
PS: check the last paragraph.
The only way to force them to stop this dreadful advertising service, despite having premium accounts, is to leave Spotify en masse. I will do this, but I doubt many others will, and that’s the problem. If many people don’t leave, nothing will change, or it might even get worse.
I pay for Family Premium to not have ads. I am fine with "within podcast host read or plays ads", but it is not cool to now have these advertisements where the podcast stops playing and separate advertisement starts playing. I couldn't even find it on the phone playing, like it was playing outside the spotify app or something. I "close all running aps", but the ad still was playing. I had to swipe down from the top and there was a little notification app showing an advertisement playing. I clicked on the info bubble "Why am I seeing this ad" and it says "This advertiser wants to reach anyone on Spotify"... oh really?
I want to reach ANY advertisers on my Premium Spotify app and kindly say no, if you play ads on my "ad free" account, I will put in a tiny amount of effort to cancel my account and setup alternatives to what I listen to.
Update minutes just after making this post: I notice I have to pay my credit card balance, what do you know just this month Spotify is increasing my Family Premium account from 17 bucks to 20 bucks a month! So you are going to now charge me more and also now start making me listen to ads? Really? Now I will be determined to cancel and get alternative for myself and my family.
I also just got a bonafide Spotify ad while trying to listen to a podcast episode.. not one included in the ep, a Spotify ad. i tried closing and opening the app, changing the thing I was listening to but it kept playing the same **bleep**ing ad
It’s getting worse, does Spotify have a plan to overcome this issue with podcast creators using third-party ads?

My Question or Issue
I have an account spotify premium which is supposed not to have publicity. However every time after I listen a podcast, I've got a publicity of Shopify... every time. It doesn't matter when the podcast are long, however I recently start to listen short podcast (3min) and It is starting to get annoying.
I don't know why even if I'm paying a Spotify premium in France I'm still listening this publicity.
Old post from 2022, still sounding off!
Easy fix -
Any podcast who CHOOSES to utilize ads (to be able to live off their podcasts )lucky them,
Should be told at the door
"You have the right to utilize ads, HOWEVER we unfortunately rely on our customer base, without them, we have no Spotify.
Therefore, your podcast can only be streamed at the lower subscription level, and NOT streamed on the "No ads" Subscription level, because we value our customers and it's only fair. "
Problem solved, we're not splitting the Atom here.
It's wrong, it's without merit, and it's a slap in the face to premium subscribers.
It's why I personally left paid streaming services on my television viewing aka Hulu, YouTube, etc..
I have plenty. I don't need them.
If my streaming was primarily podcasts, I'd leave.
I strictly am "my library " kinda girl.
I'd never tolerate it.
You are giving podcasters and content "creators" more power to make money than the talented musicians who built your platform in the first place.
Half of them aren't even content creators.
Example: I was looking for some motivational podcasts this morning and after 3 minutes of super UN-motivating ads about flu medicine and other things, I find the content "creator" has just ripped a soundbite of some celebrity.
This isn't content creation, it's purely Ad SPAM and you should have better quality control over the content if you're going to give them the right to "choose" to run ads for themselves... Despite us paying premium.
Hi,
I am a Spotify Premium customer, and yet I am currently getting ads from Spotify during podcasts, as well as the usual ads from podcasters (which I was prepared for) but I now get the actual Spotify ads which stops my podcast more than 2 times during one episode. I checked whether my Premium subscription was changed, but no, nothing has changed there, so why am I getting ads from Spotify on my Premium account?
Many thanks in advance.
It doesn't seem any of the responders from spotify are actually listening. I've been having this same issue and only in the past month. I've had premium for years. I listen to podcasts regularly and can definitely discern the difference between ads that are input into the podcast by the creator vs spotify ads. These are spotify ads and to make it worse, after it finishes and another one plays and then another.... it won't let me play the actual podcast until I've restarted the app SEVERAL times. I am
The same happens to me and do not know how to work It out
As the title says - this is a predatory tactic and undermines trust and goodwill with customers. I pay for Premium to avoid the horrible experience of ads in my content, not JUST my music. As Spotify continues to expand offerings and push things like podcasts and audiobooks this incredibly slimy business practice needs to stop.
This slimy business practice is how podcasters get paid, and how Spotify pays for the podcasts they produce. For music, there are no ads and that is because the business model is different- Spotify pays the record labels, and the artists get paid per stream.
Learn how the business works, then decide if your outrage over this horrible experience is still something you want to lean into.
I don't know how this is still an issue but remove all ads!!! I want to say I understand giving creators the options to add ads into time slots but I'm actually agitated and annoyed everytime I'm listening to a podcast and I get "this interruption is brought to you by the ford bronco". It is an UNWANTED interruption and if I keep getting these same ads on top of not wanting any ads to begin with I'm going to get more agitated with this app. If I'm paying monthly to not have to hear ads it shouldn't matter what I'm listening to just remove the stupid ads. And don't give us the option for a down vote on ads if it doesn't stop it from coming up that's literally pointless.
