Spotify Hi-Fi!? Where is our lossless hifi!?

Spotify Hi-Fi!? Where is our lossless hifi!?

Well? Weren't we supposed to get it last year?

It's gonna suck if I have to cancel Spotify and go back to Amazon HD and their crappy user interface again. 😡

Hello everybody,

I'm confused...my MusicCast reads PCM 44.1kHz, thats CD modulation...I cant see the bit depth...is possible that they just started to stream high-res? I have Premium, continental Europe.

Can anybody confirm/explain whar I see on my MusicCast? Tnx.

Spotify is limited to 320kbps. Your MusicCast is incorrect. It more than likely just isn't capable of showing anything less.

You are sure about that?...screenshot attached...

Yep, I am 100% positive about that. Its no secret, everyone knows Spotify is capped at 320. Its not like they make it a secret.

44.1 is the bare minimum SAMPLING RATE to reproduce human hearable frequencies. It has nothing to do with lossy vs lossless audio streaming (a big oversimplification because it kinda does at higher rates but still). You can have 96KHz sampling rate in a 160kbps stream and hear absolutely nothing more than you's hear in a poorly encoded 12-bit mp3 file. You can also have 44.1KHz sampling rate in a 1200kbps+ 24-bit stream and that will let you hear more dynamics of a recording. So unfortunately no, Spotify is not streaming lossless, not to mention hi-res which is considered to only start at 88,2KHz as a commercial standard. We are still waiting
