No, it does not. I just tried it. I did this on June 15,2020.

I have tested again today (Desktop version : 1.1.35.458 // Windows 10) and it's still working.

Reminder :

1 - it works only with Spotify DESKTOP version.

2 - it needs to type directly in the search box : THX1138 (no copy/paste)

Instead of restarting Spotify, just remove your previous search and type "THX1138" again in the search bar to get rid of the lightsaber effect. Once again, don't copy/paste. You need to type it in manually.

We're glad to know that you liked this feature. At the moment, this is the only personalization made to the progress bar. However, a similar idea about customizing the progress bar has already been suggested here - feel free to add your +Vote to it, as Spotify will check it out if it reaches the necessary amount of votes.

Does anyone know how to turn this OFF? It's distracting and I do not enjoy being forced to use it on Star Wars songs.

Hey there,

To turn this effect off, you just have to turn Spotify off then restart it.

It’s been showing up on most Star Wars songs for years. I have quit and reopened the desktop app a few hundred times and it’s still there.
