newbie: distributor legal issues

I'm new to spotify in that I've never uploaded before. I've written/recorded a song I'd like to upload but I understand I have to do it through a distributor.

if I use a distributor does that give them legal rights to my material?

As you mentioned, you can upload content to the platform via a distributor and for more info on your question about legal rights, it's best to reach out directly to the Spotify for Artists team. You can do so through this link.

Thanks I tried the Spotify for artists link but it didn't help at all. It's a robot with very limited abilities

To reach Spotify for Artists you do need to go through the bot but you will eventually reach the Spotify for Artists support folks 🙂
Keep in mind that any legal questions intended for the distributors can also be directed directly at the distributors themselves.

thankyou but I'm skeptical about asking this directly to the distributors themselves. they will say anything to get your money first.
