My Question or Issue

I'm using the Miniplayer a lot and it often closes itself unexpectedly. This mostly happen when clicking on the "Music video" link when available, although not every time. But it can also happen when e.g. starting to listen to a podcast while a song is playing.

Hey there @jlnflq, thanks for reaching out to the Community!

Can you try a clean reinstall of the app following these steps? If this happens after the clean reinstall, please send me a screen recording of when this issue would occur and I will take a closer look. Please make sure to hide sensitive info when posting to the Community.

Keep me posted!

This page does not give reinstall instructions for Linux.

Here's a recording of the issue.

Hey @jlnflq,

Thanks for the screen recording! I am sorry that this is happening to you. Can you please remove the Spotify application on your device? Once you remove the Spotify app, you can reinstall it here.

If that doesn’t work, can you let me know if this happens with a different account on the app? You can create a test account here.

Let me know how this goes!

Reinstalling the app didn't solve the issue.

I wasn't able to create a dummy account. I got an error telling me it's because I'm connected to a VPN but I'm not. Anyway I don't think that would solve the issue.

Hey @jlnflq,

Thanks for trying the suggestions I provided. Keep note that Linux isn’t officially supported by Spotify, and the only troubleshooting that I can suggest is what I’ve already exhausted - restarting your device and a clean reinstall of the app.

I’d recommend checking to see if there’s an existing idea, or submit a new Idea about this here. Once it reaches the appropriate amount of votes, it will reach the internal teams at Spotify.

Hope this clears things up!
