My Question or Issue

Hello I am currently having an issue with Spotify for Linux. For some reason, whenever I close the window, the music does not continue playing, and there is no tray icon. There is however, some media manager icon which is default to Plasma. Whenever I close the Spotify window, the controls become disabled.

Here is what it looks like with the window open.

Any help and or answers would be gratefully appreciated.

Hey @FocalFossa

Do you mean you actually close the program instead of minimizing it?

If yes, that's expected behavior.. 🙂

I checked and that setting that allowed users to decide whether pressing on the red X icon shuts or minimizes the program does not seem to be available on Linux.

If you have additional questions, feel free to ask!

Have a lovely day

Hello. In my experience with the windows edition of Spotify, hitting the x
button minimizes the window to the system try. That does not happen on Arch
Linux, even though it happens with other apps that do the same thing such
as Discord.

Yes, this feature does not seem to be present on Linux. I've just checked the Spotify preferences and didn't find that option there.

On Windows there is a setting that allows to enable or disable minimizing when hitting the X button.

Hope that helps 🙂

Thanks. Have a good day
