My Question or Issue
When I try to search for something in the search bar, it gives an error: "Something went wrong, reload page.", refreshing the page doesn’t fix the issue either.I haven’t been able to figure out the exact reason, and it’s been happening for a few days now. Nothing has changed on my end. Everything is up to date — my system, my software, everything. Let me answer before you ask: I’ve already tried everything you could possibly suggest, and it still doesn’t work.
The whole point of Spotify is to be able to use it comfortably as a desktop app — so why should I be forced to use the web version just because the search bar doesn’t work?
Please find the related attachment below.
I hope you will look into this issue.
Best regards.
I have the same issue. It started a few days ago.
KDE Neon 6.3 / Ubuntu 24.04
same issue
hyprland 0.47.2 / NixOS 11
this is the output when i start typing in search bar:
`*** stack smashing detected ***: terminated`
I did the reinstall and the issue persists.
I have the same issue on Linux Mint 22.1
And here I get the same. (Meanwhile I opened a new topic - sorry, the forum's search engine wasn't able to find this one... seems like Spotify is not strong in searches, haha :)).
Support couldn't help me, they said Linux is not supported...
Update: On Linux Mint, I solved the problem by uninstalling Spotify downloaded from the default app store using the command "sudo snap remove spotify."
I then downloaded it from the official website following these steps: https://www.spotify.com/cl/download/linux/
When did you do these steps (remove the snap package, install it from regular repository)?
I try this last week, but that didn't solve the problem.
And which version did you install? I have this one:
spotify-client 1:1.2.50.335.g5e2860a8
I run it as a flatpak on Nobara42. Same issue. Android and Windows clients do not have issues.
I use lpf Spotify on Nobara. I reinstalled the lpf package using 'lpf-gui' in terminal and clicking to build again. Search works again.
Well, mine is working again but i didnt do anything to fix it.
When i checked the Pop!_Shop for updates i saw a Spotify update (it was 2:32 am).
I think they just saw the ticket and then fixed or smth idkkk
i hope all of your clients search bars are working fine now
Workaround is Ctrl+K.
Spotify Linux repository has a new PGP key, but the old one is still valid. Unfortunately the package manager can't recognize about the new version of package until you add the new PGP key.
After I added it, the new package has installed and now everything works as well.
Me too :-<
It's past two weeks already and I still experience this issue.
I'm using Linux Mint 21.1.
