My Question or Issue

Hello, i bought a raspberry pi 4 and I'm planing on using it as an all in one media solution.

Right now I'm trying out Kodi and there are a few addons that would allow me to use it but nothing works good.

So my idea now is for a more desktop oriented OS so I can get spotify working.

What OS would you recommend?

Won't work. No matter what distro you choose, you're still limited to ARM, since the RPI uses an ARM architecture CPU. The desktop Spotify application is only compiled for i386 and amd64 architectures, aka x86 and x86_64. The only way to listen to Spotify on an RPi is using the browser. For this, anything will do, such as Raspbian. Just remember to go to Firefox settings and enable DRM media playback.

Edit: Ok, now I responded to the original question, without looking at the date it was posted.

Check out Raspotify!

Spotify app on ARM is in android for few years now. There is no reason why spotify won't work on RPI, except the artificial barriers.
