Spotify goes into fullscreen mode

1. Device and operating system: Samsung NP300E5A, Linux mint 18 x64, Cinnamon 3.0.7

2. Type of spotify Account: Premium

3. Spotify Version: 1.0.38.171

4. Description: Spotify immediately goes into a sort of fullscreen mode after starting. I've tried many different key combinations, but none seem to work. I don't have this problem when using the the older version (0.9.17).
