CAN't login on my spotify app with correct credentials

I just became aware that I can no longer login at my Spotify account on an old MacMini that I use as a mediaplayer (Spotify 10.11). Unsure if this has anything to do with the password reset mail I received a few days ago. Logging in on Spotify on other devices works (using the same credentials everywhere ofcourse). Why can't I login to the Spotify 10.11 IOS app? Error code is auth:2

Can you tell me the OS version on your Mac mini.

It could be the case that Spotify does not support that version anymore.

It is of an “unsupported” version that was working one and a half week ago. But if this is normal practice for Spotify, I no longer want to use their service. I’ll respect that they won’t be able to maintain all old versions of their pieces of software. But I don’t respect their power of disabling their (old) software on-demand whenever they please, without providing any notice or explanation. And just hiding behind their “service” agreement whenever they do something shitty.

My Question or Issue

I cannot log in to the desktop app on MacOS. I get the error code "auth:2"

However I'm able to log in at the web-browser version as well as with the iPhone (iOS-) App with the same account name/password.

Already reset the password but error stays the same. 

I downloaded the desktop Spotify app compatible with OS 10.12
