Running on OS X Mavericks. I went to go do something and I came back to my computer and my spotify was logged out and I can't seem to log back in. Is there any sort of backend update that happened recently that would cause this? I would switch to the web player but the audio cuts out after about 10 seconds so I can't use it. I've tried changing settings to select 'No Proxy' but it doesn't seem to do anything.
Hello
I have the same problem since yesterday.
I can't access my Spotify in my computer. It says that this app is restricted to Premium users (but I am one!) and then there's an error code: accesspoint:22
According to Spotify Support, it's tough luck. This "error" is occurring because they've quietly discontinued (i.e., they can't be bothered to patch) older OSX version support on the sly, without any notice or warning. Their only suggestion is to use the web player, or use a different device. Absolutely ridiculous.
When did this company become ALL about making money, instead of making software that actually works, or supporting their users? They've been screwing their subscribers over like this since 2021, especially. But this is the worst move I've seen so far.
ditto
same issue... on Debian.
Same for me - I have a premium family plan. I’m not the plan manager but that shouldn’t matter bc I’m still a premium member? It just says, “This app is restricted to Premium users only. (Error code: accesspoint:22)
My older macbook pro will not let me download and use the latest Spotify app - If I try their older ones, they too do not work and according to Spotify, they will no longer support them - so using my old Macbook for music is not an option anymore. That kind of sucks!
This is a terrible answer. I specifically use the old app because it gives me a better user experience. The newer apps will utilize more CPU cycles being paused than playing full HD youtube videos in a web browser (this have been reported on here before but last time I checked, nobody cared since it was just a few linux users). I signed on to Spotify Premium because of the promise of being able to use an open source client but that promise was not kept. Now I can't keep older versions that actually work well for me and not only that, the error message doesn't even tell me what the problem is. Why does it say the app is restricted to premium users when that is a blatant lie?
I am glad that you clarified what is going on and my disappointment is not with you, but with Spotify. I think Spotify is one of the worst companies ever when it comes to caring about their customers, their preferences and the promises they made to those customers.
me too premium plan but couldnt able on OS X 10.10 Yosemite and have the same error code (22) it sucks can only play it on my phone now
You gave me hope there for a moment but for me it is not working well at all. It uses a crazy amount of system resources during playback. Also the user interface feels sluggish and terrible. I expected it to be bad but I was still surprised. When you go to song radio, over 50% of the screen space is used for the title of the playlist! Can fit 7 songs on a dedicated 1920x1080 monitor. I have zero respect for this company.
I am going to save copies of what songs are in my playlists and then drop Spotify like a hot potato. I sure hope there are some nice way for migration but I imagine I have to write a script that steps through each song to get the title and artist.
me too! How can we get spotify to patch the older versions??
@ManMachine wrote:spotify is still broken after they messed with the login procedure yesterday. When I login it claims the app is only for Premium users eventhough I am a Premium user. Broken on purpose I believe.
Same happened to me. It's how they force you to update. Liars.
You have ruined my music listening experience with your shitty updates. This kind of "answer" only raises fury and anger. You are the problem and the solution is to cancel all subscriptions and return to piracy. There's really no other way. You have completely ruined the desktop app and torture people by forcing the updates. You are trash. Worthless and spineless worms you are. You have zero intrest to listen to any kind of feedback from the customers. I've paid for the premium account for over 10 years, but now it's over. I sure as **bleep** don't want to fund your apalling experimenting with my music player and its features. Good bye, Spotify. I'm done.
Why not just say "This app is out of date. Please install the latest version" instead of some nebulous error message?
Yea, I think I'mma head out as well. I've been a paying premium member for almost eight years, and Spotify couldn't keep the old versions still active to a small group of paying users that don't like the new UI. It's incredibly bloated now. Spotify didn't even listen to feedback regarding the UI changes back then, and it's very obvious they still don't care now.
You're a multi billion dollar company, and you couldn't employ a small group to maintain a classic UI of the 1.1.48 era?
We shouldn't need a literal pinned topic explaining on how to deal with the "new features" of the latest UI either. The moment that topic was created, it was obvious that you've created a terrible new UI.
I'm going to trial YouTube Music for a couple of weeks, but will most likely end up on Deezer or Tidal.
I have the same issue. I just read that as of May 12, 2023, Spotify is requiring 10.13. If you hear of a work-around, please post it.
If you're making one-sided decisions as to how people should experience your services, and on what interface, without even the courtesy of letting them know, then I for one will simply unsubscribe. For good reason, I have remained with OS x.9 and I can neither use the web version nor, now the desktop version. Obviously I'll cancel my paying subscription.
Ahhh, the song title and singer are attached together, and the album art is shown in the playlist, which really makes the gui dirty and uncomfortable.
Same issue on Windows 7. Why break it if it's still working ? Stupid decision & was made with no alert.
Classic Spotify corporate culture. Screw the paying user. We own the market.
Remember Blackberry ? They had the same attitude. Look where they are now.
There goes the old UI apparently. UX is going downhill.
It's extremely discombobulating to have the UI changing like this all the freaking time. Suddenly tasks that needed 0 inputs require 1, tasks that required 1 input require 2. Feels like the work is being done by a 12 year old and we're **bleep**ing paying for it. Exhausting.
