I just installed the latest preview on my Mac, and have enabled the crossfade option in the preferences, but new tracks just start playing straight away with no crossfading occurring.
Is this not working, or am I confused as how the crossfade should work (it says in the blog "fading out one song as you bring another in" but it doesn't appear to work like that)?

Hello there,
Usinig it all the time, I can confirm that crossfade works perfectly. Crossfade is made to listen, let's say a full playlist, without blank between songs.
If you click play on another song before the end of the song currently playing, there is no reason to crossfade it. Same as if you click next, meaning you want stop the current song before the end.
Well I listen a lot music with Winamp, and there crossfade works always, not just transtion to next song in playlist but always when hitting play this song and so on. I hate spotify to cut my music and provide 1-2 sec blank time without music as it waits before next song is loaded. I would much prefer 12 sec transition to my selected song from current playing song rather than current spotifys way.
Hello again,
I understand what you mean but the crossfade is not built that way in Spotify.
You can go to the section New Ideas of this forum and submit a new idea.
Amazing, this problem Spotify has with the Crossfading.. I've spent.. WASTED a lot of time sifting thru 17 pages posted over 3-4 years.. Still haven't found the answer. Is Spotify really that inept? Am I making a mistake paying the money?? Going to have to re-evaluate this~
I have tried to use the crossfade option w/ Spotify connected to a Denon receiver AVR X2100W. But do not work. It work only at smartphone and PC. I turned off the Gapless, turn on the crossfade seted to 12 s, but do not work on Denon Receiver. Do you have some solution ?
Hello there and welcome to the community.
I am afraid but actually, crossfade is not available through the function connect.
