Discover Weekly not updating

Discover Weekly not updating

Discover Weekly is one of my favorite features of Spotify. Most of the great music I find is through this feature.

 

Unfortunately it has not been updating for about the last 3 weeks. Is there any way I can force it to update?

Mine has been broken for well over 30 days. About two months now. I've tried all of the workarounds: Unfollow Discover Weekly, log out, log in, refollow Discover Weekly, dislike all of the songs on the playlist. Nothing works. I'm super frustrated and on the verge of giving up and Spotify has marked the issue as resolved. It's a huge disappointment that they won't reopen the issue.

 

Before the issue, I was listening to sleep/white noise music to fall asleep. Now, the curated songs on the Discover Weekly playlist are ALL sleep/white noise. It's maddening, and I miss the days when the feature worked ๐Ÿ˜ž

I have this problem consistently. I mostly use Spotify on a Windows 10 desktop. It's been happening as long as I've subsribed to the service (2+ years). Sometimes closing and restarting the app 20 or more times works, sometimes it doesn't.

 

Logging out/logging back in doesn't seem to solve anything.

 

Unfollowing Discover Weekly doesn't seem to work either.

 

It's really annoying! I undertand your frustration.

 

My theory is that the issue seems to be caused by having the Spotify app open when Discover Weekly is supposed to update. I never seem to have problems if I've closed the app, but if I've left it open I can sometimes not get it to update for days.

Yes, me too.  I've used Spotify premium for years, including Discover Weekly.  For years I've also used Spotify to listen to white noise, via Sonos, for my young children.  I never had any issues with Discover Weekly including this white noise in my taste profile (I never saved that music), but now my Discover Weekly is 100% white noise.  Very frustrating. 

Glad to hear I'm not alone on this! I wonder if it has to do with the genre of music maybe? I really hope they fix this issue soon. It's been broken for far too long.

Mine stopped working this week for the first time. None of the tricks and tips posted over the years has helped.

 

I remember it saying there was an update for the Spotify app a day or two ago, which I think I declined as I was busy doing something at the time. I wonder if that's involved at all?

I spoke with a representative who explained that this is a known issue that
has been escalated. I will follow up in a couple of weeks.

Great, this has just happened to me as well. I've been using Discover Weekly for years without any issues so far. I can still see my friends getting new weekly no problem.

And no reply from support either. How dissapointing from spotify.

Have you been streaming recently, and do you regularly listen in a private session? Do you only stream from the DW playlist? Streams from the DW playlist don't count towards your recommendations.

 

You can try unfollowing your DW, and then heading to 'Browse > Discover'  to follow it again afterwards. Hopefully, unfollowing and following again helps.

Hi, I'm listening to stuff every day, and of course, streaming, I listen to new stuff all the time. I haven't changed any of my habbits, so this week I've listened to plenty of things from my radios for example. And I've tried all the tips from the thread already, including the one you're mentioning, nothing helped. I've already contacted Spotify through twitter, I hope they'll be able to help me.

 

Discover Weekly doesn't always get it right (in fact, quite often most of it isn't what I'm into, but what I like is always something I wouldn't discover on my own), but to me, it's the most valuable part of Spotify - and I don't think they realize how valuable it is, since they refuse to give users the ability to listen to more than 2 hours of selected new stuff every week.

Problem solved. Either this time for some reason it took it another day to fix itself, or someone at Spotify helped, the support came back to me and told me everything was ok (haven't specified if they had to do anything, or that they just checked the status), so I've checked and new songs are there - either way, if anyone runs into this problem, I suggest doing what I did, contact spotify directly on twitter, they are fast with replies.

The Discover Weekly playlist not updating is happening to me currrently, and unfollowing / following does not do anything.

Anything else I could do?

Wish I could be more helpful. I reinstalled on all my devices, which did
not fix it immediately, but eventually the issue resolved itself.
