How to get the scrubbing Feature (Touch Bar)

I see people on their touchbar with the spotify logo and the scrubbing bar, how do you enable it or get it on there? Im stuck to only play, pause, change spotify volume, loop, shuffle, the default keys for spotify. How do i get the scrub bar on it?

Hi!

You can use the scrubbing-bar by clicking this icon Touch Bar-schermafbeelding 2019-09-18 om 13.51.26.png on your touchbar. It works all the time, even if Spotify is open in the background.

If you don't see the icon, you can check your control strip settings in the regular settings-menu of your Macbook.

When I click this icon it controls iTunes if it's open, and if I close iTunes the icon disappears from the control strip.  If I double-tap the icon it will pause Spotify, but that's the only control I'm able to get out of it.  This is on Catalina 10.15.7 on a MacBook Pro Late 2019 model.

I'm using the default control strip settings, but if I open the Customize Control Strip menu in System Preferences/Keyboard/Keyboard I don't even see that icon.  Ideally, pressing the iTunes icon to the left of the scrub bar should allow you to switch between currently open audio apps, but that doesn't work.

Update: It turns out that the Spotify app has to be in the original install location for it to show up in the control strip.  I moved it into a subfolder of the Applications folder as I do with nearly all 3rd party apps, which doesn't break the app shortcuts in System Preferences/Keyboard/Shortcuts/App Shortcuts.  This tells me it's an issue with the Spotify app rather than the OS.  However, it doesn't work as well as the iTunes control next to it and it also conflicts with it.  In order to scrub I have to drag it to a new location rather than simply tap fwd or back, and if I'm in iTunes the iTunes icon will disappear and either the Spotify icon will then control iTunes instead or the Spotify cursor will disappear, rendering it useless for scrubbing.
