Spotify suddenly lags computer, won’t load, and is barely functional.

One day I opened spotify and suddenly it just lagged my whole computer, I could still move my mouse but none of my tabs would work and typing in Browsers/Discord rarely worked. At first I thought opening Discord and Spotify at the same time was causing it but even with Discord closed it wouldn’t work. I tried turning off Hardware Acceleration, but that didn’t work either. Also I would have to wait forever for it to just load one of my playlists, so I tried deleting some old playlists which also didn’t work. It also rarely allowed me to play a song, and when it did half way through all the sound would just stop. It would say it’s still playing but there was no sound at all. This started maybe a month or two ago, and only happens on this Mac. Is there anyway to fix this?

Hey there @sadblueberry,

Thanks for reaching out to us and welcome to the Community 🙂

Can you give these steps a go and run a clean reinstall? That way you can make sure the app is up-to-date and the cache is not causing any issues.

If the issue persists, you can try running the app as an administrator. Are there any changes?
